Had a college roomate who was a smoking machine, would open his door and a blue cloud would roll out, the guy spent all his time in the room studying, so we partied everyday for a month straight till early in the morning to get him to leave, loud music, strangers sleeping outside his door when he woke up, then load up on some LSD and get so weird, he would not come out of that room for days, anyway, as to your problem I would move out, get your security deposit back from either the home owner or the roommates that place is a sinking ship, so its either time to crank up the hate, slash their tires, smoke all their weed, drink all their booze, eat all their food, and the glue their locks or find some other roomies. I personally perfer the former, oh the stories, roomate stories, now that would be a good thread. Good Luck DQ

Don't even think about moving DQ. You are upholding your end of the lease agreement and they should too. If you want to tell them one more time, let them know why it bothers you, that it stinks up your house and that you can't stand the smell. Bring up the lease if necessary. If you don't want to talk about with them again, then let your friend (landlord) know about it, and don't feel bad for one second. You haven't done anything wrong.

Sorry you have to deal with that shit, I hate cigarette smoke too.

yeah, I'd just go straight to your friend and tell him. Your housemates have gotten enough warnings.

Also, there are these things called "e-cigs"...apparently smoke free. It has a little nicotine capsule in the "cig" which is vaporized and inhaled, so there is none of the smoke or other bad things associated with tobacco cigs. Maybe your housemates should invest in a few of those.

I'm sorry, am I missing something here? what is your question?

I guess its that I would feel bad for getting them kicked out....I know its not me that is at fault, but I am sure they would be pissed at me for ratting them out....but I get what everyone is saying. It isn't me that is doing anything wrong and they are aware of the agreement and the consequences, so they should have to deal with them.....you'd think at 30 and 32 they'd have the decency to follow the rules

^ Exactly... who do you have loyalty to, your friend who owns the house and wants it kept smoke free (so future non-smoking tenants will rent it) or the smokers who could care less about your friend (the owner) and you?

Some people never grow up, get the landlord involved, if the roomies get stinky so be it, large flaming bags of dog turds in their room is what I am thinking, no, everyone signed a binding agreement if they don't stop have the landlord give them the boot, the house is the last place you should have to be stressed.

I have the same problem. My neighbors below smoke cigars all day to try to cover up the smells of their illegal dealings. I don't mind the occassional quality weed smoke smell, but cigars blah. However, they put up with my loud music, late hours, grilling on the balcony and DDR. So I have learned to put up with their cigar smoking and crack dealing to keep things civil. I feel it is a good trade off for living in a crammed apartment complex and not having enough money to buy a house.

It almost seems like they might be smoking some cannabis, I really don't see why anyone would like to smoke cigarettes inside the house. You might just have a serious talk with them and tell them to use spoofs or what not, because they might be afraid to smoke outside due to getting caught.
