The overarching issue in Florida is access to foodstamps. Millions of dollars in foodstamps go unclaimed here each year...

With regard to this thread topic, I have to agree with this program frankly. I got to tour their facility while working on a campaign this last cycle.
In other related news, Second Harvest Food Bank in Central Florida is moving into it's brand new 100,000 sqft facility this month:

Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida plans to build a new 100,000-square-foot facility for up to $15 million or renovate an existing building to expand its food storage capacity and programs.
The nonprofit agency’s annual distribution of food has grown dramatically during the past decade, and it’s outgrowing its 36,000-square-foot food bank at 2008 Brengle Ave. in Orlando, where it has been for 12 years, said CEO Dave Krepcho.
Second Harvest distributed 19 million pounds of food in 2008, up from 12 million pounds four years ago. In the past year, the annual need has increased by about 26 percent due to the economic downturn, Krepcho said.
However, due to limited space, “we have to turn down food donations at times,” making an expansion the food bank’s No. 1 priority, he said.

When I got clean from drugs I was on food stamps for about 6 months. It defo got my family through those times. I was honest with the people at dss and told why I was out of work and needed help. I was told if we wanted welfare I would need to pass a drug test.I remember someone telling me of places I could go to trade the food stamps for $. Some people abuse the system while many others abide by the rules and it's essential for them to get through tough times. I agree 100% with the system and hope all states put it into action.Comment

I think it's one of the most disgusting things I have ever read !
Stop for a moment and think of the consequences. You don't get food if you fail a drug test??, or worse your children don't get food. ??
