    Excerise Music Recommendations

Hey hey... all you EDM music connisseurs.. does anyone have any workout music recommendations??

Please post recommendations for your favourite dj sets/ tracks that you enjoy listening to while you exercise... I am looking to put a playlist together.

I'm thinking more on the lines of tracks like Lemon 8 - New York New York, for some strange reason that is the only one that comes to mind. Basically I would like to find anything that has the nice driving rhythm and thumping build up. You know kinda like that chug-chiga-chug-chiga beats that we don't hear too much of any more.

Edit - Spell check for Fyrestarter ;-)

Gladly post my 3000 post here...

Pretty much any mix by Paul Oakenfold I have found to be the most consistent in motivation, forgetting that I am working out and enjoying the music and workout the entire time.

Sure others are good too, but Oakenfold has remained the most consistent for me at the gym.

It was fun while it lasted...

      3000... oh yea

Thanks mate... I'll have to dust off some of my old hard drives... don't have any oakenfold lying around... hmmm I'm thinking his EM from 1999 Live at Home, Space, Ibiza, should be tasty

        Re: Excerise Music Recommendations

This post is great timing b/c I was wondering the same thing. I'm running a 10K bridge run tomorrow and debated what songs to put on my iPod. The last 10K I ran was set to Hernan Cattaneo Live @ Space June 8, 2008. The first 45 minutes were just perfect driving beats to get me through the race.

Tomorrow I'm debating on Steve Lawler EM from 2000. I figure the tribally chugging beats will give me the push needed to finish the race. During regular workouts at the gym (either lifting or elliptical/bike) I usually just listen to the Kiss100 weekly shows or whatever new live set has surfaced.

The Oakey recommendation above is great as well - I never thought about it before but the faster BPMs would probably be good for workouts.
        Gooch...

throw several of oakenfolds mixes on your ipod, em - havana is good, em - space , ibiza is good, but I like to have a couple to choose from while working out. Oakenfold was great at balancing vocals with beats which is highly conducive to the repetitive nature of lifting weights or doing cardio.

at any rate, how is it working out dusk? I know haziel was trying to get back into shape, he prob listens to hernan, which is fine, but id much rather hear oakey at the gym.

Yup looking for those repetitive beats that keep you pushing and pushing... I'm considering throwing in a techno mix or 2 maybe... but I'm not familiar with techno.. so I'm at a bit off a loss there.. Hernan is great but maybe not so much gym oriented I'm afraid.

I'm focusing more on cardio with a little bit of light weights... so far was going great until this Easter weekend.. took a little "extended" break

Today I'm getting back on track.... gobbling up all the Oakey sets posted here recently and I'm off

I was listening to this earlier on today and thought its pretty suited to the gym:

Bass breakfast on proton radio with Rob Mooney and Tim Richards.

Any Oakenfold Essential Mix from 99.

Luke Fair/Desyn Masiello/Pole Folder are always money also for workouts.

                          Thanks for the link poults.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't Luke Fair a tad bit loungy?

I haven't heard Sonkite -Tokyo, but I'll google it to see what I can find

i do most of my EDM listening at the gym. following below is list of some of ones i come back to fairly frequently:

adam beyer @ code 2005 (ran my last 10k to this one, absolutely savage set)
                            adam beyer's fabric disc
                            radioactive man's fabric disk
digweed's INOX live set from 07, i think
                            sasha's 2000 e-mix
                            weatherall 2007 live @ fabric
hawtin/villalobos e-mix from tea in the park, think that one is from 05 or 06
tyrant live from homelands in 2004, i think
                            digweed's beirut mix from 2004
digweed's cocoon amnesia set from a year or so ago <<< total evil sickness
not a live mix, of course, but if you like angry heavy lifting sessions, NIN Pretty Hate Machine is imperative IMO

those are just a few that leap to mind.

Lawler's EM @ Passion Coalville 2-25-01 or some prog trance from 98-99. The BPM's will keep ya moving. Sasha, Oakie, been enjoying Taylor's sets from that time period too.
