Just watched this over the weekend with my two dogs. Let's just say I was glad I didn't watch it in public.
Great movie if you like dogs. A bit heavier than I was expecting -- I was actually expecting it to be a kindy goofy, slapstick sort of show -- but still glad I watched it.
really? Are you not a dog person? that might be a necessary ingredient to enjoying the movie. I probably would have found it a bit slow and heavy if I couldn't personally relate to it...
I'd encourage you to go watch the cat equivalent of this, but nobody bothers to make movies like this about cats. Why is it that the greatest compliment that can be paid a cat is that it's "kinda like a dog?"

I'm not much of a dog enthusiast, but my girlfriend is, and she thinks the same about the film as I do. I can't tell the film is heavy. It just doesn't have a real plot.
I mean, is it at all about this dog? Maybe in first 40mins or so ( that's the part I actually like, with bits of comedy and all), but the rest is all over the place ( job, neighbourhood robbery, birth of 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th,7th child)...as if someone pressed the fast forward key...and the dog is almost completely left out.
It's full of irrelevant moments and you just can't get hold of it.
All in all, it's two wasted hours...i felt all beaten up after watching this film.
For a dog love it's a great film if you don't mind blubbering like a baby. I enjoyed the film quite a bit. I agree it's super lame how both Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston don't age after three kids and all that. However when i watch a film like this I tend to ignore that kind of detail.
The ending is far too sad for me to ever watch again. Someone mentioned it earlier, but I am also very glad to have not saw this in theatres. Good god can you imagine being in the theatre for the last 15 minutes? Must have been a total tearfest. My gal and I were both blubbering...so embarassing
