Anyone have any preferences??? I have a choice between the two but not really sure which one to pick. Currently upgrading from the Pearl. I know that I will like the full keyboard, but I guess in terms of size they are both the same correct? I have small hands
really depends on which carrier you have. the bold is being hoisted around the at&t channel as the javelin is being pushed by t-mobile. the javelin (aka the new curve) can be unlocked (as well as the bold) to be used on either carriers network although you will lose some data functionality as these phones were designed for a specific network and their carriers functions. biggest deciding facotrs are that the bold is 3g as the javelin is 2g, so in this aspect it really depends on how you use your service as well as where and whether or not 3g is prominant in this area. as far as size goes, the bold is considerably larger than the javelin, the javelin is just slightly smaller than the original curve and the bold is roughly the same size as the 8800 series.
my prefernce:
based on appearance and size - javelin, however you have to consider that the size of the bold lies in part to the battery due to it's 3g capabilities as the 3g love will reak havoc on a battery. (thus the blackjack offering 2 batteries and a mobile charger provided by samsung)
based on functionality - the bold
tough call but we do not have the 3g goodness in my area so it would be pointless for me to spend bold money on a bb that i can not use to its fullest capabilities.
get the latest curve 8900. The only minus it has (in comparison to the bold) is a slower process at 512 Mhz (iirc) but its' still whopping quick compared to the rest of the BB lineup. Otherwise, its smaller, sleeker, better resolution, better camera, better keyboard, AND cheaper.

Thanks for all the info... Definitely sounds like I need to go with the Javelin. My service provider does not have 3g either so I won't miss it. I have to put in my order as they are always out of stock when it comes to the newer models.
did your Javelin arrive yet? I ended up ordering it as well (from work) today because my trusty 7800g finally caved in over the weekend. I'm still debating if I should've got the bold to use ATTs 3G network (as opposed to Tmo's measly edge). While I do stay in an area that doesn't have 3G anyways, I do travel enough where I can exploit the 3G usage.
so as of now, I don't know if I've done the right thing or not.

will be picking this bad boy up as i do not get the 3g love in my area. send the t-mobile version back imo as you will be using at&t's network regardless, this way if you do not like the javelin (aka the curve 2 electric boogaloo) you can return it and get bold goods.
Javelin arrived safe and sound... however still getting used to the keyboard.. which is so much better than the pearl.. but I'd gotten used to the pearl's cramped keyboard ...lol
I've heard mixed reports that the curve actually feels better than the bold and the keyboard is easier on the fingers for type-a-holics. The thing that continues to kill me about the curve is the lack of 3G but since there is WiFi I wont complain as much.
The thing that kills me about the bold is the 2 megapixed camera.
Decisions decisions. The reason I stuck on with Tmo was the upgrade option for $79 to the curve (from wirefly.com). If I get the bold, it's twice the price.

Based on U.S. consumer sales of smartphone handsets in NPD's "Smartphone Market Update" report, the first-quarter 2009 ranking of the top-five best- selling smartphones is as follows:
1. RIM BlackBerry Curve (all 83XX models)
2. Apple iPhone 3G (all models)
3. RIM BlackBerry Storm
4. RIM BlackBerry Pearl (all models, except flip)
5. T-Mobile G1

I'm in LOVE with my Javelin. Other than the missing 3G and the smaller form factor (my fat fingers are laying out the typos in all glory), I just love this thing.
