    Re: Merzbow

I'm certainly open to music that incorporates unusual sounds, like Einstürzende Neubauten, or that makes liberal use of feeback and distortion, like one of my all-time favorites, curve. With that said, however, this shit is just noise. Dude is a snake oil salesman, IMO.

You think that is heavy listen to NON who is Boyd Rice tough listen for sure
have actually seen this guy back in the mid nineties, not everything from Masami Akita/ Merzbow is that abrasive, so to generalize on that one sample is a bit presumptous, of course not everyone plays 4/4 melodic beats, but there is a relationship between the two check out Theme Music for Bondage 1 and 2 or stick to your Oakenfold mixes.

          Re: Merzbow

Merzbow is the exact opposite of composers like Bernard Guenter. Ones who work with silence as a main element in their music.

Japan is the home of noise music, there are a bunch of them over there. IMO. The best noise music was done years ago, now it's just being repackaged all the time in different sleeves.

i guess its good because its different wtf ever, get over yourselves. no one gives a shit if you can listen to someone taking a sonic shit for 78 minutes and think it is neet-o. it doesnt deter from the fact that it is fucking dumb.

Different has nothing to do with it, you can find sonic textures in Merzbow's music that you'll find in EDM, some of it is aggressive and extremely loud, so stick to the smooth jazz station.

                  Re: Merzbow

Dude for the record I know Merzbow reasonably well, since I´m a Mike Patton fanatic and they worked together.

I still think it´s shit, I don´t care if that makes me a musical philistine, like someone once said ´the fact that you´re misunderstood doesn´t make you an artist´.

I can listen to abrasive and noisy stuff with no problem, I was an extreme metal fan years before even being into EDM, but I still need a sense of structure and going somewhere in my music, and if you can throw in a little groove, melody and above all, SOUL, into what you put out, I really appreciate it.

                    Re: Merzbow

I've only ever bought one of his albums. just a bit on the "let's see how much of this you can take" type stuff. But I would never call it shit.

50 Cent on the other hand I will call shit. In 50 years people will STILL be talking about Merzbow, and you'll never hear a mention of 50 Cent. Unless it's someone quoting me from saying it right now. LOL.

When it comes to "noise" the only guys I really dig are PAN SONIC. But they are not really noise. More of an organized noise soundscape.
