    Favorite Childhood Books

The nastolgia of seeing the book cover from Where the Wild Things Are in the Movies Section really took me back...Rather than highjack a movie thread I'm starting this one, remember these books from when we were kids? Add to the list...

I remember seeing these in my dr.'s office waiting room while waiting for my checkups...so funny to remember.

It was fun while it lasted...

I must have read all the Beverly Cleary books , I was so addicted to them specially the " Ramona Quimby "series they were such nice childhood... * sobs * books

They probably shaped me into the nice guy that I'm today .

Having two young sons of my own now, this question has new implications and has made me rethink my feelings towards some classics. The giving tree is one such book as reading it now, I realize that the tree just kept on giving and giving and the boy kept taking and taking without being appreciative of what he got nor giving anything in return...not quite the message that I aim for with my children.

My personal all-time favorite is Mr. Pine's Purple House:

Another favorite that hasn't been mentioned is The Little Prince:

"Work like you don't need the money.
Love like you've never been hurt.
            Dance like nobody's watching.
            Sing like nobody's listening.
Live like it's Heaven on Earth."

I always loved Tintin.. Sure Herge was racist and the like but loved his adventures all around the world and on the moon.
