Re: Where can I buy GAS denim on-line?

Wow, this thread got talking about cars.. and alot of talk of manufacturers..

I want to know what your favorite pair of your best/fav under say $100
I used to buy crap but I discovered fitting in stuff is key to how you feel about yourself..

I wish I had the access that Dhar has, I wish we got to hang out more when he was in LA.. I like denim.
I almost always wear Lucky jeans, I have like 5 or 6 pairs..
a few express, some old styles skinny and straight leg, I dont like how they fit anymore
Even Dhar said.. paper jeans, I had a chance to get a pair that was tagged wrong, either too small (from what the label said)
they got damaged with ink, but I still wear them out.. i dunno why i like them, maybe soft.. the pockets are cool.
pockets are KEY for me, I hate diesel for that, way too small of pockets and I don't like the cut.

The best pair of $200 jeans I ever tried on, and ALMOST bought on the spot were 7's

edit: DAMN THREAD is 4 pages. and all the good talk came before pics of the cars.

Thanks for the pointers, i'll go try to find some 575..
i want to get some crazy selvage stuff.

I personally don't know what the whole thing with Selvage jeans is. It's only the freaking cut of the threads. Why does that make the jeans so much better. Sometimes I think people allow themselves to get brainwashed into thinking that just because something is more expensive it's better.

Re: Where can I buy GAS denim on-line?

Selvedge denim has a tighter weave and is more durable. While selvedge doesn't naturally mean the jeans are better cut (since you can find them in GAP too these days), the denim should be better quality. How the jeans' fit ultimately depends on the company producing them, but the fit of the jeans change over time as they mold to your body anyway.

The thing about jeans is that if you begin with a shit denim that fits your body perfectly in store, the jeans will stretch and lose that fit over time and washes because the material doesn't retain the structure. I've worn jeans from 7 and G-star that are just fucking shapeless now.

With better quality selvedge jeans, they're difficult to wear on purchase because they're so stiff, but after a few wears they stretch and mold to your body. They shrink when you first wash and dry them, and stretch out to your body shape when you wear them again. So over time the fit gets better and the jeans retain that fit better.

Selvedge is not as niche as it used to be, they come in a huge price range these days, ranging from PRPS at ~AUD375 to Uniqlo at ~AUD99. So they aren't necessarily more expensive but you eventually get what you pay for. If you put PRPS besides Uniqlo, you'll see a huge difference in details, but obviously nobody else sees those details when you're wearing the jeans out. So it's what you see and what you want to pay for what you see.

considering I buy denim about once every 5 years. I really don't see a need for tighter weave of jeans. The regular weave suit me just perfectly and make my ass look amazing. LOL.

            Pics or STFU !!

Seriously the weave is important if you want to wear them more than once between washes. My diesels are totally out of shape after one wear!!

^ that will be because you are buying stretch denim.

normally stretch denim has 1/2% of elastane/lyric to give women that cruve hugging fit. unfortuantely being a synthetic fibre it tend s to lose its elasticit. hence saggy arses and distorted shapes.

denim is all about taste and whilst many people dont know the ins and outs of denim everyone has an opinion. cheap selvedge is a gimmick, but a decent selvedge denim does make a difference in the wear, treatment, colour, etc. it is very difficult to reproduce the effect of a selvedge denim on a normal loom even with todays technology.

I've got others that don't do that . In fact I usually wear stretch jeans because they don't sag the ordinary denim does . Perhaps it is the amount of elastane. ??

Yeah I don't usually wear stretch but I've had most of my G-stars lose their shape. Hence not into G-star anymore.

depends. but in general all stretch denim gives up the ghost eventually!

I still don't think it makes much of a difference. Every pair of DKNY's that i've had have lasted me well over 5 years and still looked good. Other than the normal wear on the bottom of the legs. I really find no need to spend $200 to have a pair of jeans that might or might not last longer.

if you have an AG store in your city, they usually run an annual sale that brings some jeans up to half off. still $100, but it's better than $200.

nordstroms does a similar sale twice a year. good deals on AG, 7s, etc.

i usually buy my denim on both those days.

ebay is a pretty good place to pick up second hand if you know what you're looking for.
