    one vice at a time.

    I'll go as far as saying that one can have a healthy level of cynicism...I am not at that level of enlightenment yet though.

      ^^^ I would go even further and say in this day of anonymous usernames etc one needs a healthy dose of cynicism, that is why we investigate some of the more outrageous things we see on the internet. I am definitely not believing everything I'm told

                          Re: Random T**ugh,s

                          Often when meeting new people, they seem to be selling themselves to me. I wonder why they do that.

                          I met someone new today who will probably, most likely actually, have a role in my life, unsure as what though. My husband assessed we have a lot in common, but I struggle to see that point. Reaching for some commonality, I found only thin strands. Maybe that's all that's needed though.

                          Longing for that "click" feeling.

                              I tend to think that many people reveal themselves, their true selves, incrementally, throughout a relationship, and if you are waiting for an instant "click" in order to feel like there is something in common, I would say good luck. As people age they carry more baggage and most people hide their true selves for fear of rejection. Especially the ones who feel the most hurt by life in general. It may take 6 months it may take years before you really see a person for who they are, as the layers are peeled away. Some people are more self-actualized than others, for what reason I don't know. I think some of it perhaps has to do with the amount of experiences they have had, their connection with death (think people who have been at war). I think these people, in my opinion, are the ones labeled "down to earth." But I digress. At the end of the day, honoring people for what makes them unique and different is more useful than seeking out people who remind you of you or you feel some deep connection. Self-acceptance, fully of ones true self is the start to fulfilling relationships with others. At the end of the day, we were all designed to simply connect. Everyone needs that.

                                Re: Random T**ugh,s

                                Thanks, it was just a random late night "at the end of the day" thought.
                                @Hoff that was funny.

                                @FL interesting food for thought. I agree with much you wrote & thank you for your insight. I didn't make very clear what I meant by "click" but it wasn't that I am looking for anyone like me or who reminds me of me. Just the opposite actually. I'll see this new person again in Dec, so we'll see.

                                Interesting digressing too. I think we need a deep thoughts thread my friend.
