Well, the Missouri legislature is proposing a bill that would take around $1B in stimulus money and give it back to taxpayers as a refund. Seems like a bit of a silly idea to me, when there are a lot of real, non-bullshit things that that money could be used for, but hey, I'll take the cash if they give it to me. I couldn't help but notice this in the story, though:
Uh, yeah. Democrats want public spending, Republicans want tax rebates, but the only thing more important than both public spending AND tax rebates is getting the Capitol -- i.e., the legislator's offices -- renovated. Riiiight...
While Richard said legislators’ pet spending projects will be axed, he said the House hopes to salvage enough stimulus funding for a new public safety radio system and wiring and other essential renovations in the Capitol.
