Anybody know what I would need to play one of these

I've come across a load of rare sets but they are in this format. I know its a disc but what is the correct name and what will it play on.

One of the discs pictured is a original recording of a set recorded round Jimmy Van M's house in January 94. There's a good chance this is the only copy in existence. If I can get it to play, I mite be able too rip it. I would post it in the tech section but I need the info this weekend.

This is only one of quite a few by Sasha, Fortier & Van M

Will these play on a mini disc player?

Look like mini discs to me ... MD is a decent format in that you can edit them.

This release was mastered direct from vinyl at the request of the DJ and as such features natural sound characteristics of this medium such as record surface noise.

If MDW-74 stands MiniDisc Walkman 74 Minutes...thenyou'd think that you could use any MiniDisc Walkman to play this

Amazon has quite a few of them..some even offer a USB connection which may make ripping the audio really easy.

          ...just my guess

            they are 74 minute minidiscs
should be able to pick up a player second hand for buttons
quality is usually very good with only slight compression so if you do get em ripped they will be virtually lossless
            good luck buddy

yeah they are either standard MD's or its recorded in that stupid ass sony compression format...I don't know what its called but I remember it was like 4 cd's on one md...and only some md players could play it.

it was like LP MD or something equally ridiculous

I transferred all my EM's onto them years ago and then put breaks in the tracks/named the tracks.

Looks like a mini disk allright, i remember you could record in long play, used to get hours of stuff on one disk.

Still have my standalone player hooked up, only transfered some disks to mp3 not long ago.

You should be able to pick a player up in your local antique store cheap enough.
