Re: White House apologizes for low flying plane

After all the reporting I'm starting to have a couple of theories on this:

      1. The people in the White House knew that the President and Mayor of NYC wouldn't approve this. If they asked, then they knew permission would be denied. Instead they did it and hoped nothing would come of it.

      2. Was there anyone on the plane? It could be a big donor or government official that was taking a ride. Air Force One is for the President only.

Could be other reasons, but I'm starting to think that these guys didn't do this out of stupidity and more about arrogance. And I don't buy that bullshit about saving money and training missions. In a tight economy it's not reasonable to be concerned about Air Force One pics in front of National monuments. Regardless, I think many of us know that there's a whiff of bullshit going on here. The question is what's the real story.

I somewhat agree with this here after reading this thread. This cant be just about a stupid call about getting photo ops above NYC. There are millions of places that they could have flown to get good pictures BUT they chose NYC for a reason, thats for sure.

This just proves that even after 9/11 and Katrina, that STILL there is a real serious lack of communication within our government, which is just sad. If Katrina happened all over again, I really think our government would still be as inept and retarded as it was when Katrina happened.

                wow, big deal.

                oh, and:
Supposedly, it was just the pilot or a few people.. that means it was not called AirForceOne, the military is, IMO held up on this thing that, if the President is not on board then it is just a regular plane.. so it was just a reaaaaaaaaaaally luxurious 747.

if you read the previous page...

This article right here tells how much of a lie it is.

The article that you tried to access, which was part of a feed supplied by a news agency, is no longer on available on the Guardian site

The White House director Caldera says

"Last week, I approved a mission over New York. I take responsibility for that decision," Caldera said. "While federal authorities took the proper steps to notify state and local authorities in New York and New Jersey, it's clear that the mission created confusion and disruption. I apologize and take responsibility for any distress that flight caused."

While in the previous paragraph it states:

Even Mayor Michael Bloomberg didn't know about it, and he later called it "insensitive" to fly so near the site of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.
also, I like superdave's response.. they just did it, and people got scared.
boy, there are some contradicting articles out there..

Re: White House apologizes for low flying plane

turns out it cost $660,000 for that picture!!!!!!!!

Probably a Saudi Prince on the plane since Obama curtsies to them

$300,000 Cost for the mission??? This was a mission!?!?!?!?!? HAHAHAHAHAHAH
                  $330,000 for Obamas plane
                  $30,000 for the f-16 escort.

Could have photo shopped it for $2000.

All news reports I've been able to dig up indicate that it was estimated at half that: a bit over $300K (not that this makes it "cheap").

At any rate, the main guy resigned over it as expected so that's that.

i must say though... this picture is amazing:

wonder if there is a ultra-hi-res of this... would make a good wallpaper imo.

Where's your fuckin spirit? ........That's right Canadaland!

like I said before, who cares... that might be the estimated "totalcost"
but cm'on thats similar to "estimating" how much it would be to "build a house using a construction company" vs. say.. if you OWNED construction company.. "everyone you know works for less, maybe even FREE.. and you get everything at cost" well, i'm sure they got it at "cost"

you can't estimate "oh.. so and so had to buy a ticket" or the f16's had to be "rented" or something?

naw, they dont pay for this shit, they just call some f16's up and they fly around like nobodies business.. its the fucking whitehouse,.. you think they need to make reservations, or gives a "flying": fuck what anyone thinks?

or, if the saudi's paid, do you think they give a damn how much is costs?

i mean, they do this for funnnnnnnnnn
