    LJT Bukem - Fabriclive 46

    Taken from residentadvisor.net

LTJ Bukem is set to mix up the latest instalment of the Fabriclive series.

Bukem, real name Daniel Williamson, has been there since the advent of the drum & bass movement, and went on to become one of the scene's biggest stars with large international tours and hugely successful vinyl and CD releases.

In recent years, Williamson took a sabbatical from running his Good Looking imprint, before deciding that he owed it to the scene to continue. "I just suddenly became engulfed in a world of new music. This is the music that I represent, and I've got to support it, so about three years ago I decided to go for it and get the label going again," he explains. "Now every day I get up feeling inspired, the music that comes through my computer, the new artists, their way of thinking, their work ethic, everything." Now he's ready to reassert his position as one of drum & bass's finest DJs with his forthcoming Fabriclive.46 CD.

Don't go expecting a seamless computer-sequenced mix, however, as Williamson is keen to explain. "With the mix I really wanted to highlight what I'm doing as a DJ. I could've sat there with a computer and done what a lot of people do: a computer mix, which is great fun as you can do what you can't do live. But for me personally, I wanted it to be exactly what I do on a Friday night, strictly dubplates and records." His mixing style may look to more traditional methods, but that doesn't mean that he's looking to the past for his track selection. All of the artists featured on the mix represent the future for his label, which is still soldiering on after 17 long years in the game.

    Tracklist
    01. Greg Packer - People's Music

      YESSSSS

I used to get down to LTJ and Good Looking Records back in my early days... that was what intelligent DnB was all about. Hoping this one takes me way back (even though most of the tracks are probably new)....

WoW. I haven't been into DNB for a good long time. But LTJ was always my favorite. I always dug the ambient music that was in the DNB he was making. Made for great music to escape with.

Not huge into DnB, but I'm always up for some LJT Bukem... I'll need to put this on my list as well.

            Cheers for the info.

LJT transcends Drum & Bass very nicely

It was fun while it lasted...

Nice one. Thanks for pointing this out. Bukem is very awesome, I dont like much dnb either, but this guy really is a great musician.
His Journey Inwards CD is some great downtempo / jazz music.

That and Logical Progression is still an amazing mix.

I started listening to d&b back in 96 ( dieselboy's 97 octane ). I grew tired of it pretty quick except for bukem's sound. I've never stopped listening to him.

I'm excited that this is only him too. No offence to conrad, but I've only liked to hear them together when seeing them live.
