    meditation

i've been doing it for about 10 months now. and it has really been helping me out.
I started looking into it while i had problems sleeping ( i basically didn't sleep for 3 month prior). and it helped me with personal issues and it made me sleep again

    so...anybody else meditating

I think I should do the same, my friend... sometimes I'm awake all day long, almost 19 hours and I can't get to sleep for about 2 hours.

What are the basics of meditation?

I actually had a budhaism class in college and we would doing meditation at the end of each class. Very relaxing and peaceful.

basically sit down in a comfortable position, and free you're mind.
neither reacting to memories from the past nor being preoccupied with plans for the future.
whenever something pops in you're mind don't hold on to it, but let it go.
                until you're mind is clear.

I used to meditate quite often, lately not so often though. You really should avoid to meditate right before/after sleep though it kinda ruins the point. Instead try to meditate in the middle of your day.. use meditation to "reload" and to get a break from everything. Issues like sleep deprivation should be taken care of in other manners imo.

Still this is something i can recommend for everyone!

I try meditate from time to time.. i just sit in a semi-lotus position, and let whatever thoughts come into my mind pass as they will.. the key for me is to avoid focusing on any one thought, and then before I know it, I'm fully aware of everything, yet focusing on nothing!

                    and then I sleep well.

vow i am actually surprised this thread has been going on for more than couple hours and nobody made any stupid ass comment.

i have tried it myself and it worked awesome, really a great way to relax.

i also tried it after smoking a joint and liked it even better.

there is a bunch of 5-10 minutes meditation mp on soulseek can be used as a guide.

Try meditating when you've got three fucking kids running around you, then you finally get them to bed and you've got to start doing the things that you've got to do. Like eating. At least I don't suffer from sleep depravation. I just collapse into bed and I'm straight off (unless its my birthday when I get a shag  ).
