I saw Sasha last year twice, once on Corfu island in Greece, while being at the vacations there, saw a poster on the street that hes playing the club called "Romeo & Julliete" or something.. and i bought the ticket immediately cuz i didnt hear him for 3 years til that moment.... i was waiting for that night for 5 days being there, and i dont know if i was drunk on cheap coctails or what, but it reminded me of old days, no matter he played a lot of new minimalised tracks and shi* ..ive had a feeling of that old times, adoring Sasha for who he is - a great producer and a GREAT dj! ..but then, less than 10 days later, i saw him again playing on the festival in Belgrade, Serbia.. my country.... and half of the party i was sitting on the stairs of the stadium he was playing at, feeling the need to cry cuz he sucked big time! ..good feeling's gone, there's nothing left of Sasha i adored back in 90s and early 00s...... its all gone Sasha!
boring sounds, dull people jumping, no contact with audience just staring at his ableton (hate it!) .. strange noises that are everything but not Sasha i loved and adored and who made me fall in love with progressive........... i went home homesick for the old years and i gave the word to myself that im not gonna hear him soon again after that debacle. Completely two different parties, completely two different sets in just 10 days.... dont know if ppl arranging the parties, club owners or someone.. pays them to play this/that way so they do it different ways in that short time or it was his moodswinging, but it was completely different!
Hes playing b2b Digweed this year on Exit festival in my country... but i think im gonna miss it.. and hearing this duo live was my biggest tennage wish, thought it will never happen....... and here it is now, in front of my eyes for some days more than a month and i have no wiish to see/hear that.. dunno...................

Wow, that doesn't sound good. I'm a bit affraid to see him and Diggers playing B2B @ Tomorrowland in July too. It really sounds strange I have to say. I mean, how the f*ck can you adore a dj in one direction while you're unsure of his set at the other direction.
It feels a bit like I'm affraid to loose someone I believe in. Sasha is also for me the person who showed me the beautifull world of progressive, and I played his gigs over 1000 times. Bought all his cd's, dvd's and ep's in the last years, and started to become a fan.
Today it looks like he's split up in two persons. Compare it with the mixes Sasha & Diggers @ Yacht Party WMC 09 and Sasha & Diggers @ Club Glow Washington DC 08. Love the first one while I hate the second one. It's just weird.
The worst thing I can imagine is that his set @ Tomorrowland will be very very minimal. So minimal that my friends are getting bored to death and starting to moan about leaving the area. This is the exact reason why i made that promise of mine,
not seeing Sasha live any time soon cuz if that expirience from last August would repeat, i think i'd lose the whole picture of his i have in my head and heart and still means a lot to me anytime i reach it's corners. For now, i still have these parts left.. remembering that Corfu party bringing the old feeling back and trying to erase what happened after that, remembering his set on Exit festival on 2005th - the best fu*kin party i've ever been!!!!! ..and also, i sincerely avoid downloading his latest sets cuz i know (and see it in the tracklists) what sound i'm gonna hear in there and that i'm not gonna like it... so... he's now something like "dont touch.. leave it that way" thing, or otherwise it might be broken completely.Comment

You are 13-17 years behind the times - the music evolves, so I love seeing and hearing what's being played + they will probably throw in a few classics.
Can't believe you'd pass up the chance when they're playing near you - as they rarely play b2b in Uk clubs any more.
Are you seriously saying you don't enjoy any of their sets post 1996 ?
You're missing even out NE 1-3 and Communicate, let alone JJJ, Fall Tour 2001, Delta Heavy, Southfest and Bonnaroo !sigpicSimonR

You've read FAR too much into what I wrote. Of course I have all the NE albums, loads of both their sets (including all the ones you mentioned). I am not 13-17 years behind the times, and to make that statement from one comment I made is both presumptious and actually quite insulting. I've been involved in the House scene since 1990, and have been on more mental nights out that most, trust me. I have met some truly great DJs and characters (Marshall Jefferson, all the Back to Basics lot, John Marsh, Huggy, Harvey, Charlie Chester amongst others). I still regularly go out clubbing, and this year I've fully embraced Traktor Pro. To say I'm behind the times is a joke.
My point was that along with some other people, I used to find Sasha more entertaining when he mixed using more "traditional methods". The are 2 reasons I won't be going this weekend to see him and digweed:
Most of my friends don't like that kind of music, and the ones that do are away this weekend. The other reason is that the day before they are playing, a friend of mine is having an all day (and most of the night) party, and I will be wasted from that. I know that come Sunday evening I'll be no way in the mood for another all nighter.Comment

the last time I saw Sasha was at his "surprise" set at Notting Hill Carnival (Sancho Panza Soundsystem) in around 2001 (I think!), he finished with Mike Koglin - The Silence (1st time I or pretty much anyone else had heard it). Oh and the same place the next year. Both were fantastic but the 1st one was better, simply because it was completely unannounced. Digweed I've only ever seen once back in 1995! Unfortunately most of my mates who still go out clubbing (I'm 36) are not a fan of this kind of stuff. Me and a mate of mine still go on the odd mission (Hybrid, Anthony Pappa, Adam freeland etc.), but he's away this weekend. Plus this party will be brill.
If I'm honest, if there was anyone up for it, I would have gone to see them this weekend, but I'll be completely wasted from the night before. It's a shame because I'd like to see them play. I suppose part of the mystique has gone for me due to the digital age. I used to mix on turntables, and whilst decent and able to hold my own at any party, I was never in Sasha's league (funnily enough!). Now I've got into using Traktor, and the records are no longer impossible to find, it's not such a big deal. Plus there's a big difference dragging yourself out on a (maybe) wet Leeds Sunday night, to going out for another night at something like Sonar!
