The key is just to have a list of buyers and the shipper needs a paypal account. Once the shirt is decided on in terms of quality/style then the buyer would need to choose their size, agree on price, pay via paypal. All the buyer needs is $ for the shirt and an email account and of course shipping address. I wouldn't want to have to handle something like this year-around, but quarterly or 2 times a year would be no big deal. I definitely know where I could get them printed too, I have family that work in related promotional type companies, so I would not mind being responsible for the following:

      1) Finding the right blank shirt (American Apparel would be the right kind of style/material/size shirt).
      2) Finding a company that prints shirts well (family connections)
      3) Shipping (USPS is the best value).

I would just need the designs and layout, then I could get a few quotes together.
and therein was kind of our issues the first go around. Getting a design that was agreed upon number one, and then trying to curtail and get orders together...since there needed to be first interest before a quote could be gathered, and then making sure everyone who was interested then paid.

Which is why I go back to the affiliate-type stores. #1 you can make a bevy of designs and then people can order those. #2 it takes care of itself so again, someone doesn't have to sit there and handle orders.

I even saw one store where you could set it up as an option for users to further customize/add more on top of the base design...now that would create some unique shirts

fucking wicked man - why dont you get together some hypothetical numbers per shirt so we will know what we are getting ourselves in for... we could even look at doing hoodies for the upcoming winter... that would be something pretty badass...

one thing i have to say is tho, personally, i would want my shirt in black

heres how it should look like.

exactly like the circle yellow icon with the word Mercury Server. plain and simple yet damn nice...

speaking of t-shirts. anyone ever seen a t-shirt that has, "I Love "picture of a house" music" ? hard to find...

              Re: t shirts!

Having a high enough resolution and large enough size of the Mercury "particle ball" might be an issue. I've been trying to get one for quite awhile for print use. The MCAST logo in hires or vector EPS format is no where to be found. I've recreated the MercuryServer logo in Illustrator vector EPS format, so any size is no issue.

I've had the Steve James shirts done without the official logo's on the back (waiting for MCAST logo) since end of November. I guess I'll just put the MercuryServer word mark logo and FSM logo and give them out at the Steve James birthday party on the 30th of May.

I could do the shirts that you speak of but would need at least a 3 dozen order minimum to make it worthwhile, the bigger the order the least each shirt cost. If I get a 4 dozen order, the screen and set-up charges will be waived or discounted depending on the complexity of the design, the size of the design, number of inks, front and/or back print, etc. etc. Lots of variables. Darker shirts require a white underlay of ink which increases the cost.

IMHO, for about $10-$12 - you could get a high quality heavy T with single color on front and back. Hoodies is whole another issue which could range from $20-$50 depending on brand, weight and of course the same variable for shirts.

+ the cost of shipping. As an estimate, add $5 for domestic shipping via US Postal for 1 shirt. International would vary of course based on # of shirts and final destination.

                Re: t shirts!

FYI - those 1 stop shop, single order custom Tshirt companies are most likely not using textile screen printing. Most likely they are using a laser toner or dye-sublimation heat transfer system which reduces quality and durability. Thats why CafePress sucks ass. Only but a couple companies make a really good heat transfer system but usually ends up costing more money for a comparable screen printed tshirt.

Let's get some designs up ... everything is moot without some tshirt designs. Once we have those up, worst case scenario we can download the designs and print them ourselves.

I'll get my fiance's ad agency to create a design, then print my own, on a shirt of my choosing then post it, if people like it, I'll make more... or thrax could do the same, seems like he could get it done too.
