Some Oakenfold gems

He may get a bad rap and these days be looking more pokey than Oakey ... but in Paul's day very few could get near to him.


Now he may not be the most flawless of mixers, but live no-one could destroy a room like him. In Liverpool he's a legend, and his 1999 EM World Tour has some of the finest sets ever recorded.

I stumbled across this selection of music and hope it's all legit (I know a lot of it is because I've got quite a few of them).

Chunky recently unearthed a couple of gems .. so if anyone has sets to add then please add them.

I've got quite a few Stateside/Paul Oakenfold Presents/Party 93.1 sets - his radio show from 2002 -2004, which I actually quite like ... but have tons of gaps with the shows - so if anyones got some of these I'm happy to pool resourses and put an archive together.

The jjj 1999 set is actually from Home nightclub in Sydney.



So I'd say check out that, the Quite Waters place set, the Glasgow set, the Millenium set and the El Ray sets for starters.

thank you sooo sooo much for this post..... OAKEY was the first dj i was really into.... his global underground new york is simply a timeless piece.. for me the man was TRANCE.... when he left the scene it simply was not trance anymore. tiesto was away to techy. i mean people think what AVBuuren plays is trance...it really isnt.
Trance is a mixture of all styles from soundtrack to jungle. the man had a way of weaving all styles into a hypnotic journey throu space and time.

in summary his style of djing was a genre on its own..........

Warning the 2nd half of the Home Sydney set is very peak time Trance - System F & Universal Nation etc.

Does anyone have that Oakey Orange hours set that was for the queens day in the UK... It's like 2 hours long, and has some pretty cool tracks in it. Anyone know what I am talking about?


First time I saw Oakey was in July 2002. I remember him playing that Piledriver (greyed out summer mix) track and everyone loved it. Was a good show... But then he played again in St. Louis July 2005 and he brought Hernan Cattaneo.... I went to see Cattaneo and got 2 hours of bliss, he ended with Graham & Blades - Funky Somma (Andy Page Remix)... then Oakey came on did some tunes... was alright, but nooooooo Cattaneo.
