    Hernan's Australian Tour.

Ok I have held back for over a week , mainly because people expect me to say most of it anyway and are probably sick of me saying it. But in the spirit of sharing the joy here goes!! . Hernan Cattaneo is the best DJ in the world.

He came , he saw and bloody hell did he conquer!! Over 4 nights he played 4 separate and very different sets. How many Djs would, or even want to do 4 different sets.?? Hell, I saw Bt do the same set twice but a year apart. !!

One Night Only . Nearly 7 hours. Despite sound issues he gave us a wonderful, wonderful set. Fortunately the issue only effected 1 speaker and not the ones near the Dj booth. Which makes the promoters claims that the sound issues were caused by unmastered tracks even more ridiculous.

The venue wasn't really spot on . Dancing on carpet for 7 hours is very tiring. The building is an amazing cutting edge building, but the club was more a corporate meeting room , not a dance club by any means . The views however were absolutely amazing !! Shame I am a bit scared of heights

The best thing bout this event, aside from Hernan of course, were the people. Everyone of us just felt so lucky to be a part of an intimate club date with Hernan , There seemed to be a very special sort of camaraderie . People with those sort of grins a plastic surgeon couldn't remove everywhere. If the building had collapsed a lot of us would have died happy The soundtrack we would have chosen
D Funniest moment was a very drunk Dj friend of mine saying "I wish I had a vagina so I could have Hernan"s babies", and that guy isn't gay !" I will see him tonight at Paolo Mojo and gently remind him of this comment.

Brown Alley 4 Hours , Totally different set. He came and just took total command He had the crowd literally at his feet . A little more techno in this set, perhaps in consideration of the fact that the event had been promoted more along those lines. Or could just have been because he was just reading the crowd as he does so well. Interestingly he played techno way better than some of the techno Djs. Although a couple of our locals were brilliant as usual. This was a party set from go to woe !! It was a joy to see a dj just totally high on his music. !!

Brown Alley is a great venue!! But the lighting was just a bit strong, and the crowd a bit random and pushy [ I blame the techno element ] and I have three toenails turning black. But I can live without toenails. If i could do it all again. :

Now to Sydney. 4 hour set. This could have been a disaster. There had venue changes, ticketing issue and If whinging was an Olympic event Sydney siders would take the gold medal every time. He came on to even more sound issues but somehow managed to play what most people considered a great set. He even brought his set down at the end in respect to Loco Dice who was playing after him. He has no ego !!
Unfortunately for Loco Dice the sounds issues got even worse and he finished early .

The only good things people had to say about this event were all about Hernan . Total professional every inch of the way. Totally saved the day !!

Brisbane, Last night of the tour, nearly didn't happen , the Brisbane boys got together to form a co operative to try to make sure it did. Loyal fan base there. . But one of the clubs stepped in anyway to make it happen. As it turns out this was the jewel in the crown. He was supposed to play for 3 hours , he played for nearly 5 1/2 and they had to shut him down. The comments on this gig are fantastic. Many "Hernan is God. " "Best set of all time ", "Best Dj in the world" posts. Wonderful way to finish the tour. Only thing wrong with this gig was that I wasn't there. Next year definitely

Threaded through all this wonderful flawless music are lovely little stories about the way he interacts with his fans. From special mixes, to the way he checks the crowd to see what they want. [Not like Armin Van Buuren and his Jesus pose as someone said] To special conversations he had with some of his fans. i.e. Brisbane couple about to leave earlier and he told them they couldn't , he hadn't pulled out the big stuff yet All those things that make him that bit more than just a Dj who plays amazing music.

All in all over 20 hours of music and not a mention of one dropped beat anywhere. All flawless, all immaculately mixed !! How many Djs could do that. ??
I just feel it was an absolute privilege to be there for 11 of those hours. I'm still floating on air, and probably will be for a while longer .

    Hernan Cattano!!

And I absolutely defy anyone to out gush this post

None from Brisbane they follow my "dance not pics" creed obviously . But they do have a couple of vids.

I saw a vid from a friend of mine at the family gig, seemed like a private party with only 30-50 ppl around. On top of that the music was awesome as always.

Nice one Didi - good to hear you had a blast and good to hear the man himself is on top form (though isn't he always?) - best dj in the world ? I tend to think so as well

I was kinda wondering how come there was no review yet from you... glad to see that you were soaking it all in and then decided to post

Definitely sounds like Hernan is the one dj that I need to see live.. couple years back - I kinda felt like his sets were more mellow than what I'd like to hear at a club/party... but now maybe its the perfect time to catch him spin!

You absolutely must. !! I had people thanking me for insisting they went to his gigs here

His club gigs are never mellow. He's not all flamboyant, but he is so into the music and he checks his audience all the time. He really, really wants his fans to have a great time. Watching the precision of his mixing is a joy as well !!

I'm lucky enough to have a loan of a promo copy of his CD . Mellow it isn't. I can't wait to have my very own copy without the robot voice.

You know I am sick of myself saying good things about him but I can't find anything even remotely critical to say
