Laurent Garnier - Essential Mix

Anyone heard it yet? Didn't find any discussion in P&R, it's a bit difficult to talk about specific EM now that they're all merged into a megathread.

Thought this was another great mix from Garnier, I wished he had play a full 2 hours with the different set of tunes mixed in Garnier style instead of separating them into 2 different parts.

Give the EM a go. It is not the rollercoaster as you might expect, I was actually surprised at that hence my first comment. Track at 21 mins is wicked.

He can play some great tracks but for me he ruins it with the nonsense tracks Red Astaire - Break On Through, The Doors - Soul Kitchen, The Cure - Boys Don't Cry Nancy Sinatra - These Boots and so on.

I remember before I had actually gone and seen him, the recorded sets I heard from him didn't do it for me, but I caught him at Karotte's birthday party at Cocoon a few months ago, and that guy destroyed that place with the most driving, bass ridden beautiful tracks. He started with a little bit more eclectic preamble, but proceeded to blow the doors off of that club.

That laser glove at 3:50 is hilarious.

This guy is pure genius as Tong said. I have never seen a DJ with as much passion as him. I mean, you have people like Zabiela who's always hyper and you have other idiots who prance around, but when you see Garnier spin, you feel the way he does about whatever he is playing. He has amazing style and his mixing is always spot on, fucker makes it look effortless sleight of hand the way he segues music together. And everytime I've caught him, he never stops playing as long as there's someone on the floor. At Hardware he wouldn't let the next DJ take over, at Zouk he just kept throwing tunes at us when we refused to leave. He's the only DJ I have heard who would get me dancing to shit I never listen to and in some instances, detest. I often think his productions reveals a lot of the thinking and intelligence behind the man and are in a class of their own.
