Crips and Bloods: Made in America

A documentary that traces the history of Gang Violence in LA in attempt to evaluate its causes and find a solution. It brings forward some fairly interesting statistics to think about...such as that there are over 15000 gang related deaths in LA every year and that children growing up in Watts, South Central, Compton etc are more likely to suffer from post traumatic disorder than children growing up in Baghdad.
The film also touches on other issues such as an increasing prison population, lack of employment for people on parole, lack of government initiative etc.
Anyway its pretty good IMO ... fairly detached and objective in its analysis. Although it obviously has about ten minutes where it interviews the families of some of the victims, nevertheless the authors don't get bogged down in moral arguments and sentiment.
