Re: Sander Kleinenberg Chill-Out Mix 2009

Yikes .. this thread seems to have struck a nerve - everyone's entitled to their opinions .. Sander has moved on (which he's entitled to do) and he's probably found a totally new crowd - one that I'd say enjoy a good night out, but I'd wonder how obsessive about their music and their productions.

I've actually got all his CD's ... Nubreed still sounds ground-breaking today, but the Renaissance ones were all incredibly well put together and I raved about the "this is" comp too.

But, in my mind, other things I have heard disappoint me by comparison. Too much seems throw-away ... not as much depth/melody ... sorry Sander !

Would be interesting to know his thoughts on Pacha's changes -the best house club in the world has expanded its vip and jettisoned Def Mix and Roger Sanchez, plus Renaissance are only using the brand name and none of their top DJ's e.g. Diggers/Hernan/Zabiela/Howells/Tomeii and (to a degree) Sasha (who played for them 2003 - 2007). Now you get David Guetta (who admitted he rarely sources his records and nicks them off Pete Tong & Morillo) and Freddy Legrande.

Life-style over substance. This year will be the 1st time I'll be giving Pacha a miss (Sander's not playing Pure Pacha the night I'm there - Benny Benassi is ).

Sander, if you still read this thread, it has no reason to argue about how you play now and why you play so. We've seen in the past many top djs like you changing their musical styles and tastes just to come back to what they were best at. Mixing isn't only about "playing the tracks of people who are best in the business", that every jukebox can do and i am sure you, of all people, understand the most what building up a set really means. People here are not an ordinary audience and maybe, just maybe, you should give a thought or two about what they are saying.

I used to catch sander back in Arc, some of the best nights I've ever had. He would break the set down so musically.

I still download his sets in hope to find something I like, but yeah most of it is for a big club where people don't care about the tunes.

I understand where sander's at, he's just playing for his audience, but what's the point? I'm sure he's got enough cash now he could drop the high profile clubs and just focus on good music. I guess once people get a taste of that life it's addictive.

Sander, if you are still reading this,
do understand that this board is a group of hardcore music fans, a lot of us love experimental and forward music. We understand that you aren't necessarily in a position to push that style music. You may in fact be pushing big room music in a new direction (I don't listen to enough of it to really know), but that's just not our direct taste.

Being judged on a mix you just threw together for fun is not cool, esp if you didn't foresee any of the criticism, but I think a lot of the opinions you here from this forum are from guys who kinda wanted you to stay underground and push that style music (think adultnapper) -- but that's not the way you went, you chose a different route, which is totally cool if that's what you wanted to do.

Checking out the tracks ... some nice music on there - the selection seems random, but the true test will be on Salinas beach in a few weeks.

                            Well guys,
I just listened to the mix and I'm with Sander. Quality tracks.

It's not mixed exceptionally well, but chillout out is hard to mix, and he just threw it together. I'm glad to get something musical to listen to. I like it, and I'm glad to have something new/different!

SANDER I HOPE U READ THIS!!
