TBH this CD never grabbed me like some other Cd's by Nick Warren, but that doesn't mean to say I dislike it. I was always up and down with Amsterdam to but dig it out about a few months ago and realized how good it is. I did the same with Reykjavik (both discs) as well. Maybe its time to dig Shanghai out again. Sometimes you just need to be in the right environment for a CD to click into place but when it does its magical
I can see why people love Reykjavik so much - at the time it was a complete change of style for GU. CD1 has some great moments, but out of the two I like CD2 the most - some really pumping tracks on there.
In terms of Paris, there are some good tracks on CD1, but CD2 is very mediocre IMO.
Dunno what it is about Lima that I'm not enjoying really. Couple of excellent tracks (Panoptic, Somnus Corp) but then some others that just seem to be filler for me.
He's still one of my favourite dj's of all time though....
Reykjavik used to be my fav. Nick Warren GU compilation but Shangai although I liked it the first times I listened to it has been growing inside me everytime I listen to it. It's probably now my fav. Nick Warren GU. I love how it grows, and how mellow & melodic it is, especially CD1. I still listen to it today and it still gives me Goose bumps.
shanghai is one of my all time favorites from nick. am huge on mixing proghouse and progbreaks seamlessly, so resonating with this is joyous for me. i still dig it, despite it being a little bogged down in some parts; serious buisness nonetheless though.
i'll just leave this here:
