Re: Bedrock 11th Birthday : Matter (Saturday 17th October 2009)

Thank you! Why wouldn't I want to stay too close to Matter. Is Greenwich not a nice area to stay in? I don't know...I've only been to London once for a couple of days and we stayed in Piccadilly Circus.

Simon...which hotel do the lot of you stay in and where is it please? I'm trying to see if this is financially feasable and if I want to give up wmc 2010 to come to this instead.

Chanty Greenwich is fine its a 10 minute walk to the hotel from Matter

Situated on the Greenwich Peninsula, this Holiday Inn Express is just a 15-minute walk from the O2 Arena, the IFS Cloud cable cars and the North Greenwich...

Oh yeah...that hotel is a little out of my price range $1300.00 for 4 nights!
I'll have a search around and see if there are any hostels in the area!
        Thanks Adzey!!

chanty, my hotel last year was nowhere close to matter. as long as you're close to a tube station, it doesn't matter (no punn intended, lol)

Is Luton Airport far from matter, guys?
I live in Luton. It's 35 miles from Matter approximately. Possibly more in fact as the O2 isn't the centre of London. Always makes me laugh when people say they are coming to London Luton Airport. There are about 4 towns between Luton & London!

Anyway, if you do fly to Luton, you can get a train from the airport station to London - about £15 but you will need to buy another £15 ticket the next day to come back on.

I am debating getting a cheap hotel so that I don't have to worry about getting home etc, as I'll more than likely be on my own. Then again, if check out of a hotel is 11am then not really worth it if Matter closes at 7am!

More choices if you stay in a hotel closer to the center of London. Like a wise person here said "as long as you are close to a tube stop" you are fine.

Cheep hotels don't mind you bringing back cheep dirty hookers for kinky sex and cocaine as much as the posh hotels

Thanks for the info Greg. I´ll have to factor in that train expense to see if it´s worth it to get the cheaper flight to Luton or pay a bit more for a flight to another airport.

We stay at the Holiday Inn Express .. if you can get some roomies it cuts the cost !

The advantage of being by the venue is the logistics of getting back at the end of the night/start of the next morning.

We tend to get to the hotel early afternoon for some rest (we'll need it) then a few drinks in the bar, a meal and the tube to a [ms] meetup at London Bridge before we all head to Matter for the 10.00 start.

At this rate there could be 20-30 of us

Plus the early bird tickets should be cheap.

I've thought about that option too, just wanted to know what Greenwich was like. I really liked Piccadilly Circus so I may go back there.

Really considering coming over for this! I was studying in London in 2003 so I was in attendance at Bedrock 5. Need to talk a friend into heading over there with me.
