    Vision & Zuvuya present:

    | AFTERDARK: A Chicago Techno Showcase |

The city of Chicago has long been a melting pot for many things cultural, and music has always been one of the more predominant things that rooted itself in this town. It's no secret that House music was born here, and there are flourishing scenes for just about every genre of music you can think of... but one unique and healthy scene that exists in this city that we're featuring on this night, is Techno.

Techno was born in Detroit, but has travelled the world over, and has formed communities that grow in the underground music cultures of cities throughout. Electronic dance music (EDM) has long been mis-labled as "techno", due to the nature of its beat structure and its difference from other forms of mainstream music. Make no mistake though, techno is a sub-genre of EDM all it's own, and we have put together a showcase of talent that will show club-goers what this sound is really all about.

Globally-acclaimed label Zuvuya Recordings and Chicago’s only super-club Vision are joining forces to present a showcase of local heroes that has techno-lovers from around the city teeming with anticipation. Vision’s sound systems will get a workout! After Dark will feature a stacked lineup of local DJs and an affordable night out in Chicago.

Headlining the After Dark showcase in Vision’s Sky Room is Zuvuya’s label-owner, Kill Memory Crash’s Gabe Palomo, and Zuvuya recording artist Avex Axiom. Palomo, a true techno veteran who continues to blend the most current sounds with beloved classics, and Avex Axiom, one of Chicago’s most versatile and technically-skilled DJs, will debut a special six-turntable set that is sure to leave jaws on the floor and hands in the air. This is truly a rare performance you won’t want to miss! Joining the duo are Mark Roy, Wahi, and Kuya and Moto. Mark Roy, Lava Lounge regular and the force behind Vison’s monthly “Home” showcase, and Wahi, Vision resident and Curbed Recordings label-owner, are no stranger to tearing it up in the Sky Room. Expect these two to deliver funky sets full of dance-floor burning tech-house. Zuvuya newcomers Kuya and Moto, who pack Martini Ranch with faithful club-goers every Thursday, will warm up the room with a bold mix of techno and club-friendly favorites.

Not to be outdone, After Dark will feature a second showcase upstairs in Vision’s penthouse, an intimate setting with an impressive sound system. Zuvuya recording artist and Illmeasures resident Brad Miner will present a live set of his own productions sure to give your feet (and your brain) a workout. Busy Indianapolis-by-way-of-Detroit DJ Ben Wu, whose beloved Bang Tech 12 collective recently rocked a pre-Movement party Memorial Day Weekend in Detroit, returns to the Vision penthouse—one of his favorite places to play. Expect a banging set of acid tracks and tech-house from this multi-talented selector. Joining Ben Wu and Brad Miner are Staxx and Bill Bishop. Mixmasters DJ Staxx is a long-time Chicago favorite who is known for his exciting and unpredictable sets full of old acid tracks, techno, and electro. Newcomer Bill Bishop, one of Chicago’s In Your System DJs, has put himself on the map with his residency at Beviamo Wine Bar. He’s sure to get the penthouse moving with a cool mix of heady techno and bumping tech-house.

What you can expect: a night of ferrocious driving beats that will take you on a journey from light to dark, funky to aggressive, and melodic to abstract. Expect a fusion of sounds, beats, and vibes that will keep your senses at full attention. Expect the familiar to be married with the unexplored.

Expect a floor-shaking good time, in both the main room and the Penthouse!
