Why Fuck is the Best Word in the English Language...

Perhaps one of the most interesting and colorful words in the English language today is the word "fuck".

It is a magical word which, just by its sound can describe pain, pleasure, love, and hate. In language, "fuck" falls into many grammatical categories.

It can be used as a verb both transitive (John fucked Mary) and intransitive (Mary was fucked by John).

It can be an action verb (John really gives a fuck),

a passive verb (Mary really doesn't give a fuck),

and adverb (Mary is fucking interested in John),

or as a noun (Mary is a terrific fuck).

It can also be used as an interjection (Fuck! I'm late for my date with Mary).

It can even be used as a conjunction (Mary is easy, fuck she's also stupid).

As you can see there are very few words with the overall versatility of the word fuck.

Aside from its sexual connotations, this word can be used to describe many situations:

I agree that 90% of stuff you hear on mainstream radio stations is complete shite, but you really can't blame the radio stations. I went to Lovebox festival in Victoria park which is supposed to be filled with more discerning music lovers than your average pop festival, but people still go fucking nuts to the obvious songs they know, rather than really listening to anything. Florence and the Machine played an amazing set - love every minute and never heard any of the songs before, but the biggest reaction by far was to a cover of 'You Got the Love'. Sad really, but not suprising.

Radio just want to pull in the numbers so they can generate bigger advertising revenue. Even if they have the odd decent show (Kiss - Transitions, Radio 1 - Essential Selection/Mix, although listening to this for the last couple of week's I'm beginning to think Tong's lost it), the majority of stuff they play is utter crap.

Yes there are credible stations (JJJ, 6 Music, etc..) but I bet ZM have 10 times as many listeners as these stations put together. If you're not in radio for the music, you're in it for the money and only 'popular' music will guarantee you're going to make a lot of it.

yep - you are right mate, i guess that the frustrating thing for me is the fact that "popular music" is so shit. like im astounded that the majority of people think that this music is good - its insane... like that my hump song by the black eyed peas - honestly, what the fuck is that song? seriously? that has to be the worst song ever written... lol i think i feel a thread coming on...
