    Jam Bands / Music

I know this is specifically a board for dance music....but i was just curious..

Anyone else here a fan of jam band type music? I have just as much fun if not more at these type of shows as an EDM show. There are some really great bands out there.....and its such a great party atmosphere.

LOL. yeah i guess u could call it that.....

          a few are:

moe. the dead, ratdog, north missispi all stars, medeski martin and wood, mofro, allmon bros band, derek trucks band, phish, buddy guy, les claypool,

its the "jam band" genre of rock music

one that i have really been very impressed with is "moe"....I just caught them with ratdog in st. agustine florida and that had to be one of the best shows (vibe) i have ever been too.

To me stoner rock is bands like Kyuss and Fu Manchu... but ok now I see where you´re getting at.

And to me Buddy Guy is just blues, man, and one of the greatest of all time at that.

                      Seen him 2 times actually

The dude´s voice is (or used to be) so powerful, he could sing without a microphone and still be clearly heard all over the 5.000-seater where I first saw him. He´s a great showman too, there was this song where he just left the stage (he used wireless mics) and went around the whole theater playing guitar, popping up in VIP booths, sitting next to people in the audience while playing guitar all the time. Freaking amazing.

Definitely a big jam band fan, especially those bands that have some sort of electronic influence or incorporation into their work. In fact I was a big fan of a lot of these bands before I ever started getting into EDM.

                        A few of my favs:

                        - Sound Tribe Sector 9!!!...my absolute favorite band
                        - Disco Biscuits
                        - String Cheese Incident
                        - The New Deal

^^^you are so lucky....i had planned on going many times but unfortunatly he passed b4 i was able too

i recommend seeing ratdog (bob wiers band) if you still enjoy gratefuldead music. they have gotten really tight in there playing and are definatly creating the "majic"at there shows...

and the parking lot / shakedown is some of the most fun times at these shows.

maybe that's to strong a term but I stopped enjoying their music, it became to radio friendly. That's what I always admired about the Dead and phish. They never watered down their music or cd releases for radio play. It's not toatlly DMB's fault it happened when they exploded in the 90's, but they certainly ran with it. what's your opinion lilsensa?
