    report: Tomorrowland 5th Anniversary

My report from a great weekend Tomorrowland :

Finally, it was saturday the 25th. I looked forward to this great event and after 4.5 hours traveling from the Netherlands we finally entered Antwerp Central. What a beautiful station is this btw. Our hotel (Golden Tulip) was next to the station and we checked in around 2 o'clock. The hotel was very nice looking and we had to laugh a bit because it felt a bit not done to stay in such a nice hotel when you're actually there to party whole day and night long ^^. The room had a great view over Antwerp too, that was really nice .

We get rid of our stuff and walked to the busstation. The festival area was only 16km away from our hotel, but it took a hour to get us there because of the 20+ stops. Finally there we were welcomed by the beats from Q-dance (hardcore/hardstyle). I personnaly didn't like it because the weather was very nice and I prefered to hear some funky housebeats at that moment.

In the beginning we chilled at the hill from the mainstage. There were a lot of people, but there was still enough room to relax. The mainstage decor was very good looking, I really liked it. The fontaines looked also very nice, especially on the daylight because the normal light effects aren't that special when the sun is shining.

The other festival areas were very nice decorated too, and you can get everything you needed in the small stores. The Star Warz area was pretty cool. 8 crazy guys and a mc playing really nice drum 'n base. When the evening was arriving and we went to the Kozz Mozz area. Really nice techno played here, and the first half hour from Kevin Saunderson was brilliant . The people were going crazy and the first lasers where launched. When it was becomming darker we went to the mainstage.

On the mainstage hill we had a beautiful view over the festival. Really cool how a festival comes to live when the evening arrives. Everything looks so different and magical. The music on the main was relaxt, but not as nice as the music that was played in the Kozz Mozz or Café D'Anvers areas. Anyway it didn't matter because the light and lasershow on the main was fucking amazing.

At the end of the first they I prefered to see Joris Voorn closing the Café D'Anvers area. What I disliked was the decor of that area. Actually it was fucked. A simple tent with a funny cake on the booth and very minimal light and no lasers or special effect at all. I was a bit disappointed because all other areas looked so cool, and the area with artists like Joris Voorn and Sasha & Diggers looked like hell. Something in me said: " why ?". At the other end Cafe D'Anvers was a area where people go crazy all day long instead of the standing still people at some other areas.

Anyway Joris Voorn started and technically it was great. But I just couldn't loose myself into the music, and after 1.5 hour I went to the mainstage again. Don't want to say that Joris his set was bad, because it wasn't. It's just that I had to choose between a "nice" set and a damn good show with lasers and firework at the mainstage, and that was a easy choise for me.

The second day we arrived around 3 o'clock. At 16:00 the 16 Bit Lolitas played in the La Rocca area and I wanted to see them. Guy J was finishing his set with a very nice track and the 16BL came in. The first half hour was a bit boring, but after that they started to play really nice stuff. The almost famous Dark Flower (Joris Voorn remix) and a very nice remix from Sasha's Xpander. The whole area went through the roof and on stage they had really nice girls dancing. After a hour there was also a huge shemale on the stage with a crazy ass leather/latex outfit xD.

In the beginning of the evening my friend wanted to look at the Q-dance area. Normally I don't like the boom boom boom music, but D Block & S-Tefan did play some nice melodies I have to admit. After an hour we had seen enough there and we went to the Vandit area were Above & Beyond started to play. Damn they played very nice. Hands in the air and the whole place was floating on the melodies .

21 o'clock and it was Moby's turn at the mainstage. There were a very much people and it was hard to get a nice place. At the end it didn't matter because Moby played really good. First some warming up records and later tracks like Rave Is King, Born Slippy, Righ Here Right Now and a good remix from Porcelain. Its very cool to see 20 or maybe 30.000 people going crazy with all hands in the air. 22:25 and the mainstage exploded. I read somewhere that the firework wasn't that great last year, but my god, it was beautiful this year .

Sasha & Digweed already started to play at 22:00 and I didn't wanted to miss anymore of this set. It was a shame that there were so much people on the main, and it was very hard to pass them. Paul van Dyk started with For An Angel and I knew one thing: "Sasha & Digweed had to play very good, because there was no way I could went to the mainstage again within 30 minutes !". So I had to choose between the big show at the mainstage or S&D in the most minimal decorated area of the festival and no guarantee for 100% nice music. I did choose for the last one offcourse because it was the first time for me to see S&D play live, and thank god I did that. They played mindfucking records with crazy ass melodies like I never heard before . For a homelisting set I think I wouldn't like it, but on that moment when you're really on the set instead of your chair it was the best you can imagine .

I didn't use any drugs and because of my medications I couldn't drink alcohol either. It didn't matter at all because the mindfucking tracks took me into a trip. At one moment I went insane with my eyes closed, and the best thing was that the whole area went insane too . A couple of minutes before 00:00 (fix your watch niext time S&D xD) it was all over, the end... In the middle of the set I wanted to hear hours and hours long it was all over. Everyone screaming and yelling for a new track, but it didn't help . Sasha looked a bit shy when he laughed to the people, but I saw the happiness in his eyes. One thing I knew for sure, next year I will be there too .

Thanks, that was the beginning of the crazy ass end. After that they played a couple of tracks like that, and the last one was so mindfucking that it almost looked like I was on a plane going up and down with the melody. At that moment I was going too insane to record a movie from that track ^^.

Here's btw a pic at 00:00 when they left the stage while everyone started to scream
