I haven't checked out nevermind yet either. The sound system at the civic is good, but I'm not a huge fan of the layout, plus the drink prices were pretty high from memory. Laundry isn't too bad, it's just that they always let way too many people in, and turn up the music way too loud. Otherwise they have two main rooms which splits up the crowd, and a decent sized courtyard (where sasha will be playing nov 21 ) where you can go up to get some air and relax which is nice. Occasionally the crows isn't the best though.

I haven't been to home in a long time (sydneys 'superclub' where svens side show, as well as a few other large events are held, but which normally puts on crappy hardstyle nights with the sort of crowd you would expect for that style of music) but when I was last there the sound system was average, and drink prices pretty high. Layout wasn't very good either. No club in sydney (that I've been to) has been able to combine good music, sound, and layout unfortunately.

I can't honestly say I can see whats great about playing Micheal Jackson Thriller at the end of a set. If I was was a DJ and someone told me Jackson was dead, I wouldn't be thinking I will dig out one of his records and playing it at my next gig. I would just carry on about my day.

The sound system at Civic is sharp, but the speakers are not spaced out properly and the low end is still too much. Bass is still too boomy or they just turn up the volume too much. You still cannot hear to someone standing next to you. Maybe the problem is more layout than speakers, my Melb friend who DJs was the one who pointed out the speakers weren't spaced out properly. My benchmark for a good club system is tight punchy bass that hits you in the guts and reverbs, and the usual mids and highs. If the system is good, there's no need to turn up the volume to compensate for a shitty low end. You should be able to hear someone standing next to you if that person raised his voice without shouting.

Also, this is something I don't get. What's the deal with these international acts in Sydney getting 2hr slots? WTF? And SOS is only getting 3hrs. I think Howells played 4hrs and it was like a god send.

Sven Vath is a monster - we saw him at club uk in london years ago where he played for 6 hours.
During his set he'd polished off something like 70 bottled beers, carried by adrenaline or whatever else he got to the end then just fell on the floor and was carried from the club.

Wasn't it him that used to set fire to his records with lighter fuel and throw them if they skipped on him?
