Dal has always been a favourite of mine... kinda makes me feel like I've eaten my veges since lentils kinda fall in the same category I'll have to throw the spinach in there and see if I like it.

I haven't tried cooking with sugar but I'm gonna give this a whirl.. thanks for the tip b0b

          Okra Winfrey.

For some reason, okra is one of the only foods that I CANNOT eat....Too slimy in the middle. Yuck.

I won't be back until next Tuesday, so if Get Carter is the correct answer, I would appreciate of someone else posts a new cap for me

Agreed, I remember Gordon Ramsey choosing okra for the Room 101 show...what a tragedy. On a side note, I tried fried okra in an Indian restaurant once...I won't be doing that again.

                  yep

Here is the simplest way to make it. just make sure you fry the okra till its almost crispy. That way it wont be gooey.

                  Bhindi Piyaz

                  Ingredients:1\2 kilogram Bhindi (Okra)
                  2 medium onions (thin slices)
                  3 medium tomato, roughly chopped
                  6-8 - green chilies, sliced
                  1\4 cup cooking oil
                  1 teaspoon coriander powder
                  1\2 teaspoon turmeric powder (haldi)
                  1 teaspoon black pepper, powder
                  1 teaspoon salt

                  How to Cook:
                  1. Wash bhindi with plenty of water. Dry with tea cloth or just spread in a tray for some time.
                  2. Cut Bhindi into 1\2 inch pieces, discard the head and tail.
                  3. In a large heavy based pan, heat oil over high heat. Add okra and turmeric powder and fry for about 5 minutes. Remove from pan and put aside.
                  4. Fry onion in the same oil for about 5 minutes.
Add okra, chopped tomatoes, green chili, black pepper, coriander powder and salt. Cover and cook over low heat for about 15 minutes. Serve with Chapati.

                  This recipe serves 4 people.
                  Preparation Time: 15 minutes.
                  Cooking Time: 20 minutes.

                  Serving Options:
                  Serve Hot
                  Serve with Chapati (Roti)
                  Try Raita with this dish.

                    Re: Curry Recipes

I've never heard of Bhindi being referred to as "gooey". Heck I've eaten raw okra and not for once did I feel it was "gooey". Unless you're getting a bad stock or adding just too much water to the recipe, Bhindi won't go gooey.

Now egg plant on the other hand (or as they call it in my language.... Baingan), that shit will gooeify your poop it's soo gooey.

100 miles south from bombay - city called Poona (by the brits) and Pune (by the rest of the country). I still call it Poona cause I hate the local pronunciation of it.
