yeah. I don't normally have people rudely approach me... seems like most of them here always look sad. I was walking with one of my friends from a restaraunt one time, and as she was drinking from her clear cup of water this guy leaning against a wall asked her if he could have it. That's some fucking saaaad shit. Anybody that has to beg for water needs a second chance.

some fucking losers just went to jail here for beating up a drunk homeless guy. the morons video taped it then got caught.
It was pretty sad, the guy was sopissed he couldnt move and the buddy was just feeding him kicks to the head.
Anyway I usually give them change if i have it. i give it to this one dude who has this book and tries to look like hes educating himself, but every time he has the SAME book so i just laugh and throw some coin in his hat.Comment

These guys just came up & rushed him & Messed his ass up Bad...using a brick wall & then the cement... it was SO horrible .... then everyone scattered & security & cops came, & of course no one fessed up.... Re: Bums
The bums on Lansdowne St. in Boston usually have some sort of act they do or entertain you in some sort of way. If it is just I guy holding a cup giving the usual line I have a hard time doing it.
Although the was this bum in Boston Common saying, "man could you spare some change for a bag of weed"! Gotta love his honesty!Comment

What sometimes i do, when a bum ask's me to give him change, i tell him that he's gotta earn it, so i make them do simple & easy jobs like washing my car, whatever...(never make them do jobs insid the house though....)
But i'm very generous, here in lima, we've tons of poor ppl, & i always colaborate with any change i'got, or sometimes give them food, or left-overs.

I live in SF the homeless capital of the US... we actually pay the homeless twice a month... such an odd policy... during the middle of the month everyone is soo cracked out... then a week later they are nutz, hungry, and dangerous...
i never give money... i have a policy of answering any question with the same reply...
Bum: Spare some change?
Me: Have a nice day.
Bum: Buy a homeless newspaper?
Me: have a nice day
Bum: excuse me, excuse me, can i ask you a question?
Me: have a nice day
it really confuses them... usually they will repeat the question or rephrase it... at which point i repeat my canned answer... they rarely get mad as I am wishing them a nice day...
give it a tryComment

Re: Bums
i usually dont give often, but im not downtown as much as i used to.. but even then i was always hesitant because there dallas is way to generous to the homeless if they are able to make deposits @ a bank. one of the local news crews recorded this "short person" homeless guy that looked like wee-man going into the bank a few times a day.. but i usually make a little dontation to the north texas food bank & buy those homeless newspapers when they stil did it here..
but now the mayor of dallas has decided to try to clean up the homeless by making it a crime to be in possession of a shopping cart off of the company property. how are they gonna pay a ticket.
not to mention banning panhandleing on corners which doesnt stop them. but what it does is stop dallas fire dept from raiseing up to 400k a year for MD children because it falls under the same ordinance. not to mention hold up police for dealing with the corner dwellers..
way to go mayor.Comment
