Back from the white isle .. fantastic trip, and a brilliant night at Space on Tuesday.
Sasha and Diggers played an extended set inside the Discoteca, all for the bargain sum of €20 which offsets the ludicrously priced drinks.
I'm pleased to say that [ms] and Bedrock boards were well represented with Dan [Domnal] Vishal [Funkykharma] and Mike [MJ] out on the night from here. Great to catch up over a few drinks before the main event too. Vish and Neil [from Bedrock board] have tons of pics .. in the meantime I've put up some from a more sober professional !
At midnight the doors swung open to the empty discoteca with Diggers cueing up his 1st track, and building things to get the mood going. Very eclectic and some amazing tracks played, this set it up for Sasha who played dark and hard, layering his tracks brilliantly - Sasha played a fair proportion of the night, pretty much head down, complete concentration and his game face on ... which meant completely new music and on of the tracks he's been playing repetitively. Like 10.5 it's one of those sets that you need to hear again and again to completely take in what's been played.
The two went back an forth in segments before some b2b action later on. All in all an amazing night .. with a top top crew !
Vish'a review on b-rock was as follows:
"The best set I've heard in a club in my life......Diggers' first hour was pure magic and then Sasha came on and played the best I've ever seen him live, layering sounds beautifully and building up nicely.....Digweed's second spell threw up some delicious darkness, Sasha's second spell was only slightly inferior to his first, Diggers came back and threw on Reflections and the Radio Slave remix of Love Stimulation, the last 2 hours was mainly Sasha but with some back to back, Paul Woolford-Hierbas and that Discopolis remix were some highlights, ending the night with Lamur......simply unbelievable......... "

"Absolutely brilliant night - Diggers 1st hour was the best I've heard this year ... real early 10/10 vibe with some oldies thrown in - complete alchemy. Sasha played dark layered oldschool space for his 1st hour .. brilliant, then JD took back over with a fantastic change over track. Tons of music played over 7 x hours and my memory fails me in my old age, tracks I placed at the time but won't be able to find when I get back !
They ended with Hierbas (ibizan track of this summer .. even though it's from '0
, Reflections (original) .. which was the highlight of the night - sounded so warm and beautiful, with the melody reverberating around Space just before 7 a.m. - stunning. Last track Guy J LM, Sainz remo.
Brilliant ... just shows that Space is still one of the ultimate places to experience music (Diggers and Cox superb as always in July)."
My aching knees are now in retirement now till 11 in October
