Our story begins in 2002 when Gab Oliver released the "No Nonesense" compilation on an incredible but now defunct Australian record label named Zero Tolerance. The mix captured the best the label had to offer and defined an era of dark progressive house that captivated us for years. It also brought our attention to a little known upcoming producer named Jono Fernandez who's track "Lo Runner" was featured.
That same year Jono Fernandez released a two track EP on Zero Tolerance and then in 2003 helped catapult progressive breaks, one of our favorite niches, into the scene's collective consciousness with releases on Jonathan Lisle's M-Theory label, Baroque's breaks imprint Electrofly, and the influential EQ[Grey]. Jono's music has played a definitive role in the musical history of Proton Radio, so it's with great honor we welcome him to our label with his new single "Everytime".
"Everytime" was actually written in 2004 as a full blown Progressive Breaks anthem but was never released. Thankfully it somehow made its way into Proton Radio resident Stefan Anion's Blueplasma show where it got the attention of one of Proton Music's upcoming producers: Arthur Deep, who in turn expressed interest in remixing it to Jay Epoch, Proton's director known to have a soft spot for Progressive Breaks.
The single is a quintessential example of why we founded Proton Music in the first place. To emphasize this, we invited the key players in this track's rebirth to remix: Arthur Deep and Stefan Anion. Jono has revamped the original for 2009 and Stefan's remix along with the original breaks anthem will appear on Part 2 of this release.
