A buddy and I were talking the other day and we started wondering if it were possible to stream high-quality audio (not 32kbps.. at least 128kbps) from one PC to another. Our goal would to be playing around with tracks together from our homes, and one person would be streaming his screen/audio to the other computer. I know I can do it with remote desktop or VNC, but has anybody actually tried this that can vouch to the streamed sound quality? Or do you know of alternative solutions that have worked?

Re: Teleproducing?
run a shoutcast server at home and give him the IP to stream whatever you want him to listen to. As long as you have 13 kilobytes/sec upload, you can stream it in 128www.mjwebhosting.com

I won't be back until next Tuesday, so if Get Carter is the correct answer, I would appreciate of someone else posts a new cap for me -
Re: Teleproducing?
oooh, that's a good idea. just disable sound on a rdp/vnc connection and stream live. thanks man, I'll let you know how it works if we try itComment

Re: Teleproducing?
vlc can do this, i think. but it'll be more complicated than shoutcast, i suppose.
anyway, definately should work some way, you can almost check the bitrate of the stream against the bandwidth of your upstream, just take a little overhead into your calculation. you can even stream 320kbit mp3, if you have some 400kbit or so upstream.Comment
