The thing I really liked about it was that they didn't got the usual route of 3D films, having things rush directly at the viewer (which gets tiresome after a point, and is a cheap trick 3D movies have been doing since the 50's). It's a very heartfelt film - the opening 10 minutes manages to convey a really sincere and touching introduction to the main character without saying much.

Also, really liked the dog collars.

"Oh please, oh please, oh please, will you be my prisoner?"

Rent, if you can find it, Spacehunter: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone with Bruce Boxlietner (as in the guy from Babylon 5) and a very young, pre-John Hughes Molly Ringwald. It was filmed in 3D, and if you pay attention, there's an inordinate amount of shots of stuff coming at the camera (including lots of shots of leads reaching directly at the camera).

Also check out (if you're able to stomach the pure shittiness of) - Treasure of the Four Crowns and Metalstorm: The Destruction of Jared Syn. These films are the anti-Michael Mann's of their time.
