Since my dad retired he's been makin his own wine and that to me is where it's at. I'm clueless when it comes to the commercial stuff i don't mind admitting but when you have a large supply of free issue it matters little.
He buys his grapes from italy and after years of toil and experimentation produces something that compares very well to the average bottle on the market . It doesn't keep forever (2 yrs tops) but neither does it contain anything other than 100% organic ingredients so you can drink 2 bottles of it and feel fine next day..
It's not always as strong as wine you can buy (though sometimes it's stronger)
I can't stand the white wine he makes (don't tell him!!!) but the red is magic, it feels more like being stoned than drunk after a few of those.
This is the last year he's gonna do it he reckons which is a shame but he's 73 so if he says that's it then fair enough as it's a lot of effort.
He can't drink it like he used to so gives most of it away.
