    Best films from Cannes/Sundance to watch

    I am trying to step up my foreign film / indie game as these are my fav types of flicks it seems anymore, anyone have best recommendatinos from past Cannes / Sundance to check out?

    Here is the list from 2009, what is the best on here?




    Also wikipedia has the previous years winners for both filmfests too.

    I should update this with some of the stuff i have already but havent watched / seen:

    Cannes:

    the wind that shakes the barley
    L'Enfant
    Fahrenheit 9/11
    Elephant
    Pulp Fiction
    sex, lies and videotape
    kagemusha
    apocalypse now
    taxi driver
    the conversation


    Sundance:

    five minutes of heaven
    sleep dealer
    man on wire
    frozen river
    trouble the water
    padre nuestro
    right at your door
    iraq in fragments
    grizzly man
    hustle & flow
    murderball
    why we fight
    down to the bone
    super size me
    the corporation
    maria full of grace
    primer
    the station agent
    american splendor
    in the bedroom
    memento
    clerks
    blood simple



    heh...there might not be much left

        that looks good. suprising how ang lee can do so many different types of films, and they are pretty much all excellent.

            i didnt mean to say that that list is all the stuff i have but havent watched, ive watched 90% of stuff from that list, but have all of the above but havent watched some of it. i have seen those 4 films though

              Check out Thirst. It's from Chanwook Park, who directed Oldboy. It's a pretty interesting spin on the vampire genre.

                  The stuff that is on this list is pretty solid. You can't go wrong with most of them. Remember though that you're not watching standard Hollywood fare - some of this stuff requires a bit of interpretation and really aren't meant to be watched passively.
