    The Best Tracks of 2004

In a year that started with Luke Chable the all conquering hero hailing the renaissance of breakbeat and finished with him almost the forgotten man. The distinctive crossover sounds of Fanciulli rise ever to the fore as the elctro tinged, funky prog sound seems to encompass the sound of the moment.

Name your top 5 or 10 tunes of 2004

    in no particular order

    1. Guy Gerber - Stoppage Time
great stuff, memories of a heavy night @ Sasha Sankeys this August

    2. Invisible Inc. - Stars
Massive trippy intro tune for Sasha in the first half of the year

    3. Felix Da Housecat - Watching Cars go by Sasha Remix
Disliked this on first listening, now cant get it out of my head

    4. Lostep - Burma
    Great melodic downtempo breakbeat

    5. FERRER & SYDENHAM - Sandcastles
promo copies were around a year ago had plays from Digweed, Pappa recently ...the most underrated track this year

    6. Pob and Taylor - Aura

    7. Chiapet - Westworld (Nic Fanciulli & Andy Chatterley's skylark mix)

    8. Deepsky - Talk Like A Stranger (Skylark Vox Mix)

    9. Orbital - One Perfect Sunrise (Stereo 8 mix)

    10. Avrid featuring Anesto - Try (Andy's Freaky Dud)

Probably missed loads especially the deep and tech house stuff.

I've heard the remix, Psynce. But I prefer the seed remix ... longer dreamy break in the middle

Btw, wanna add Luke Chable - After the storm to my list ...

No one mentioned Pig & Dan, who produced a number of great records in 2004. Overall. I think these producers were the best in the progressive genre, there were alot of great classic songs to come out, but these guys were awesome releasing quality ep after ep...
