I love Urbantorque they ruined my career, didn't offer me any opportunities, left a black mark against my name in the music world and have never ever paid me any royalties.
Seriously.
No to be fair Urbantorque signed my first ever record which was a huge turning point for me in my DJ career as I now had become a producer.
They also opened my ears into new sounds I hadnt listened to before and guided me in what can be a cut throat industry so I owe them for that, its good to see a label looking after there artists. On top of that they release wicked music from equally wicked people such as Scope, Francois Dubois and Motorcitysoul and with every release there is consistent quality and when you put out records such as Blood then it shows a label like Urbantorque has a refined ear for the deeper edge.

A Note from the artists:
"When we signed to Urbantorque in 2004 I'd been sending out demos for about 5 years without much success and was quite dejected about making music and ready to give it up." Superenlightened was the first track that Ollie and I did together and I saw it as a last attempt at trying to get my music released. I think Jason and Leigh put a lot of faith into us at the time as we only had one other track (an earlier techno version of In Minuscule). We've been in development with them for a few years which has been frustrating at times, but I don't think we'd have got to where we are now (ie: having recorded an album as good as Fear of Night) without them.
I really like Jason and Leigh. They are down to earth and unpretentious, easy to get on with and they really like their music. Leigh is always enthusiastic and loves his deep house, while Jason has a bit of a sixth sense about music which sometimes he expresses rather metaphorically but when you decipher it he's usually right. "

Hello, I'm Matt and I write music (actually I co-write these days - better mention Paul or I'll get a shitty text...) under the name the Diogenes Club. I've been asked to say a few words about Urbantorque, their music and my complex and sometimes tortuous relationship with them. I was introduced to UT via a mutual friend and since then, I send them music, they say whether they like it or not, and some it of gets released. I guess every artist who works with UT has a different relationship with them, but for me, the important thing is that I'm left alone to do what I want ; this fits into my view of music in general - you either like it or you don't. If they believe in you and your music, Jason and Leigh will give you as much (or as little...) support as you want, and I can ask for no more than that. I should also mention the grace and tolerance with which Leigh handles my occasional overlong, browbeating and stubbourn emails on various aspects of my output. Anyways, enough about me, here are some of my favourite UT releases - in no particular order...
