Moral: Everyone should check their purchases because most likely an employee did this. Could happen to anyone and some people are responding by saying they see this happen a lot.
The scary thing is that I have bought many things from that particular best buys. I know im going to check all my items next time.
The company name is Best Buy, not Best Buys. Secondly, I used to be a manager there and this kind of stuff happened every once in a while. The thing is that there are many, many scam artists out there. This particular one is a classic "rocks in the box" scam. You won't believe how many times someone would come back into the store and say that the wrong thing was in the box, serial numbers didn't match, etc. I'll give this person the benefit of the doubt, but if you gave everyone that came in a refund, exchange, etc for 'rocks in the box' scams you'd go out of business.

i bought a 50 pack cd-r from BB before and when i got home, i found out they were used!!! i guess some schmuck had used it, returned it, and BB just shrink-wrapped it. they took it back but i was little worried they might think that i did it...
O Man m ok I have a story for you guys..
Like 2001, I went to best buy to purchase a cd player for my car. My mother wanted to give it to me as a present, but I said I woudl pay half for it. She gave me her card and I had cash for my part. I went to the store and found which one i wanted and they said i can also have these other cheap ass speakers for free beacsue of a special they were having that was going to be over the next day. I decided to buy it, but upon payment, they told me i could not get it installed today. So i said fuck it i'll come tommorow, and get it then.
So the next day i went back and this was new years eve day. I asked one of the guys there for the cd palyer I had found the day before and he qwuickly told me that they do not have any more. So i realized this asshole was just a lazy bitch so i found the part number looked it up and found 4 on the shelf. I told the guy and he said sorry and i got them, the speakers which started to be a problem and some 10 dollar "thing" the guy said i needed. I went and paid for it and my friend took my car to the back to get it installed. I bought it but i had forgotten about the 10 dollar thing, so I went and paid for that seperate. I had two reciepts, 1 for 10$ for this thing, and the cd player and all that other shit (approx $400) i went to the front of the store the guy checked my reciept and i left. I realized my car is in the back so i go back there, and this fat guy is standing there so im like fuck (he looked like the kind of guy that would be a dickhead) somehow walking to the front of the store, i lost the reciept for this 10 $ thing and i told the guy that. I said o you can ask that cashier right there. He replied I cant talk to anyone i need a reciept, so he calls his midget of a manager this 40 yr odl white guy named troy. Troy looks over my reciept and then sees i used my mothers credit card to pay for half and he looks at me, and says you know you shoudlnt be doing that..so i get heated, im like ARE you implying I woudl steal form my mom? Is that what you do? This shoudlnt be a prolbme at all, finaly after all this shit, the guy says we are gpoing to refund you...so i got so pissed i screamed fuck and left the store. i was smoking a ciggarette in the back and troy and this fatass walk out arms crossed. Im like what? they say im not alowed back into the store. I was like o yea? I flicked my stoge and walked through the store, and i got my money back and the cops came as i left.

Apparently you've never worked retail. Do you realize the amount of identity theft and credit card fraud that takes place every day? The guy wasn't implying that *you* would steal from your mom, but there are thousands who have. Unfortunately I've been on the receiving end of no fewer than 100 phone calls from people who say that their credit card was used for fraudulent purchases at the stores where I worked.
On top of that it states in the credit card terms and conditions that only people whose name appears on the front of the card is allowed to make purchases with that card. So why don't you call up your mom's credit card company, say 'Fuck' really loud and then flick a cigarette at the phone?
So let me get this right, you deserve to steal because your little thong panties climbed too far up your ass one day and got you all mad because someone else was doing their job?

i know about retail and you are talking about just 1 store
i was in best buy the other day and after i checked out i noticed they have there own security guy at the front door with his own security TV's standing at the front door
as we walked out he said have a nice and was like what is this world coming
my friend had his identity stolen and guess ware they went best buy and rang up 10,000 worth of shit man he had to go thru alot of shit to get out of that
there are way more bad folks then good ones around

the sheer amount of people who call me daily and just hand their credit card numbers to me over the phone is astounding.
We were never allowed to take credit card information over the phone. I remember one guy in particular cursing me up one side and down the other because I refused to let him buy a big screen t.v. over the phone. I was absolutely amazed. It only seems to get worse during this time of year because people are so on-edge and impatient. So much for the holiday spirit.

technically, we are supposed to get name & address and then we have to call a authorication number to verify. i personally only do it on purchases over $100, my old boss did the same.
