It does have to do with me; it has to do with all of us. We're the ones that have to put up with higher prices, stricter policies, and those rent-a-cops sitting at the door because of people like you.

Where in the hell did you get the idea that I didn't like that line of work? I loved my job, every godddamn second of it. I left to return to school and finish my degree.

Customers are strange when it comes to Security. They want the best security possible but as soon as security measures are causing them problems or five minutes of their precious time they scream like kids as if you want to torture them. Customers want to do everything via Phone or Email of Telefax not facing the fact that this is not the safest way do do business...of course it?s easy for them but fact is that EVERYBODY who has the slightest clue about PC'S could send you a faked Fax or Email using their adress but they just don't think about it. But as soon as not any possible security measures have been used and somebody ripped them off they scream as well and say you didn't do enough.

Very well said Tom. People want what's most convenient for them at that moment. It's the same with the ramp up in airport security. After 9/11 people screamed for stricter measures before boarding a plane, now they don't want to be hasseled with it. I was in Logan Airport (Boston) not too long ago and some guy was getting really beligerent with the security personnel because it was taking more than 5 seconds to check everyone. Now I understand that Logan is notorious for long lines, but the fact remains that some of the planes involved in the 9/11 attacks originated from there so it goes without saying that they will be more tough and more thorough than most other places.

As for retail: have a receipt, have patience, and have some understanding that the people that you're dealing with are customers too, but they're also (generally) hard-working people who are there to put food on their family's table. If you don't like then write a letter, but don't flick your cancer stick or shout obscenities because that only gives the rest of us the impression that you got what you deserved. Unfortunately I can understand why this particular guy stole something, because his behavior inside the store is indicative of a self-centered, selfish human being who is only looking our for his own self-interests.
