Saw him in Dublin. Was a bit disappointed. Played some great tunes, including Holden's - Safari (MASSIVE BASS) and a remix of Hazy Way, that smashing pumpkins remix and that tune with the lyrics "Satisfaction" in it. A real deep, trancy set, tunes you get lost in for about 20 minutes at a time. Everything had a real mashed up feel to it. There was a sound quality there that I don't think I've ever heard in a live set before. His ability to control the tempo was been greatly improved. It was amaxing to here such intense breakdowns.
You might be wondering way I was disappointed. Well I didn't think much of the crowd there. There was no reponse off them for a lot of tunes. It felt like they were all asleep. Maybe the tunes had carried them away. Also Sasha finished his set on Magnetic North which is a great tune but not the big tune you expect him to finish on. Felt more like a bridging track. In his Puerto Rico set from last week he played another three or four songs after this. I get the feeling he ran out of time and the Red Box finshes strictly at three. He just kind of faded the track out!
I'd give it a 7/10 but the points being docked are more a result of external factors than Sasha himself. I don't think I have ever been as carried away by a set before. An amazing musical journey, just a shame it didn't get to reach its climax... Will just have to go over and see him in Fabric next time...Comment
