For this week’s exclusive DJ mix we put you in the safe hands of a man with an expert ear for a tasty beat and unique groove – Marcel Knopf.
Hailing from the techno-haven that is Berlin, Marcel was always bound to be a dab hand at relaying techno, but his tastes extend far beyond just this. As his Clash mix shows, he also incorporates some of the best in house, dub and broken beats into his DJ sets. Artists featured in the mix include the downtempo goodness of Jay Haze and the lush electronics of Lusine, as well as several choice cuts from Marcel himself.
Another track to listen out for is the remix of ‘It Put Me Well’ by Phil Weeks – a cracking proggy house stomper with a trippy, dark edge – more proof, if any were needed, that Marcel knows his stuff in this field. Shifting seamlessly between minimal, upbeat and a range of bases between, Marcel’s mix perfectly displays his ability to keep things fresh and experimental while also retaining a solid dancefloor vibe throughout – a talent which can be heard on Marcel’s latest record – ‘Dusty Dance’, released in late October on Mo’s Ferry Productions.
