    Bittorrent PTP

Does anyone have any experience with this file-sharing system that can shed any light on it? Any ideas for good clients?

    Thanks

      Re: Bittorrent PTP

Is it better in any way that Soulseek, Piolet, or any of the other PTP programs out there?

If you're looking for livesets and house music in general, it's not the best place to find it, but there are some sets out there. It's more for TV Shows, Movies, Games, Music etc. I recommend either ABC Bittorrent Client or Bittornado. You can manage your upload/download speeds which is nice. I also recommend using Blocklist Manager in conjunction with Protowall. This way you can have that running as a firewall in the background when you're downloading...it blocks any snoopers that may be out there.

I've had no problems with Bittornado. Think it was previously called Shadow's experimental bittorrent.

I use Bittornado as well...the only problem with Bittornado is that it opens a window for each torrent. With ABC, it keeps all of the torrents going in one window, which uses less resources. But I had a problem with ABC where I would lockup if it was minimized....maybe they fixed that in a newer verison...not sure.

Best = http://azureus.sourceforge.net make sure you get the SafePeer plugin for this, same as what was talked about above with Protowall, but built into Azureus.

or if you feel that the java written scripts are too demanding for your PC

http://www.bitcomet.com is also good, written in C++ instead, but in this case get Protowall as described above

All other clients are crap IMO

I use Bit Tornado, but it sucks bandwidth and memory. You'll notice a big difference in performance if you are running 3-4 windows at a time. Not sure if all torrent apps are like this or not. As far as just downloading sets, its a great way to share them. Look at spiker, he has great transfer rates. Saves the trouble of having to host via ftp and worrying about bandwidth.

                      Re: Bittorrent PTP

I've hated BitTorrent from the start and I always will it seems.

It's way too slow to get what I need. Just over a year ago I started paying for an EasyNews account and I've never been happier.

If you're getting slow speeds using a router, you need to forward ports 6881 - 6999 for both TCP & UDP.

If you use Azureus, you only need to forward one port.

azureus is the best client around... u can manage ure upload spd to 5kb/sec while u can dload at unlimited spd.
and yes... the dloads are fast !! (it depends on the seeders)
