    Things happen for a reason?

    Question,

How many of you think that all things happen for a reason?

Example, this week, 5 people from my past have reached out to me. Some I have not spoken with in over 12 years.

One was a best friend in a tough time during my life, then he got in to some trouble with doing stupid stuff... He called to tell me life is good, working, has a girl, etc...

Another was a girl from high school that I was close with, but never anything more than that, she called just to say hi... and tell me how much she has thought of me over the years...

Another was a friend who was told years ago by a Dr. that he could never spin again because of and ear issue, only to find out last week from another Dr. he was misdiagnosed and now he can spin and produce w/o pain or hearing issues...

All the while I have been thinking of moving back home to be with family and friends...

My question has anyone had signs; things happen that have caused them to make a decision based on a gut feeling?

Not sure if this even makes any sense, but my mind has been all sorts of warped thinking about this... Sorry for the ramble...

This will probably sound a bit weird, and I am usually pretty down to earth. Firstly I don't believe in the "things happen for a reason" scenario. What I probably do believe may be even stranger. I believe it all comes from us!!

I think that there is a definite capacity for mental telepathy and if you were sending out messages people have been receiving. Actually I think at this stage it is more like empathy. There is so much of the human brain and spirit that we do not understand yet. We need to evolve a little more and open our minds. Then we will really be wireless.

DIDI.... I don't think thats strange at all, and actually makes very good sense to me. I am a man of science so I have trouble believing in things like people seeing ghosts, but I also appreciate the power of the mind. We KNOW it creates energy and emits waves.....so why can't it also receive them? While I doubt there is a woman floating through walls, the brain may perceive so source of...energy...as such. Who knows.... but Johhny, I don't think its "fate" or a sign that they called you all at once. Look at it from the other side, does that fact that they didn't call for so many years confirm that you should have lived away from home all this time? Not really right. The fact that 0 called you for 12 years is just as interesting that 5 called in a short time...
It's never too late to become the person you always thought you would be.

Re: Things happen for a reason?

I for one do believe some things happen for a reason. For me, the one thing that really changed my opinion about this is how we ended up picking my brother in laws car. He had no plans to buy a used Infiniti, let alone an SUV. He stays in South Bend IN and he had driven a couple of Nissan Maximas locally, which we were going to test drive and pick between the 2.

On my way there on a Friday night, I got a call from another cousin in Chicago and ended up making plans to drive there the next day and hang out with him, totally forgetting the agenda of the trip. So when I got to south bend, I told my brother in law we were to drive to Chicago the next day. While he was surprised I planned the trip, he agreed cause we'd have a much better chance at getting a better deal on a car.

We planned to leave early, hit up 5 / 6 different dealers (based on an initial search we did of different cars the night before) and hopefully have a deal snagged before night fell. But, having a 6 month old at home at the time proved challenging for us to leave on time and it was nearly 3 (local time) when we reached Chicago.

We quickly went through our list of pre-screened vehicles and realized all the dealers were too far to make on time before they close between 4 - 5 that day. Disappointed, we decided to drive by an Acura and an Infiniti dealership because they had a couple of Maximas on their lots.

We first finished up on the Acura dealers lot and didn't like the car at all. It was nearly 4:45 by this time and we thought perhaps the Infiniti dealer had closed. We called in and the sales guy said we had 15 minutes more and that's all he needed. We headed off there, saw the Maxima and there was this QX4 sitting right next to it. My brother in law couldn't get his eyes off it.

Couple of test drives and after 30 minutes of price haggling, we had a brilliant deal on the SUV.

I know you could "explain" it off but if you consider all the things that did happen within a 24 hour period that totally changed the direction of this purchase, it's hard to assume it wasn't happening for a reason.

From the off hand call from our cousin in Chicago (which I could have ended up missing cause Tmobile sucks) to leaving late from IN to getting caught up in traffic to not making it to a single dealership we were supposed to and yet planning on only checking out Maximas at the two dealerships we found closeby to the fact that the Maxima and QX4 were even parked next to each other that day, if any one of these would have been "off", he wouldn't have had that SUV.

The series of events that day truly made me feel that getting this vehicle was more than chance.

                      Things happen for a reason.
People come into our lives to "share", to be close, to be friends, to be a pain in the ass, and so... because there´s something we (and them) have to do/learn about that...
And when it´s over, they just get out of our lives, and we get out of their lives...
look at this: look back in your life and search situations that repeated in every context, every social group we had... until we did something about it. (i.e. some "enemy", some person that wanted to see us sad, some person who helped us and we didn´t even know him....).
I live thinking like this, but not in a passive way. I try to understand connections, to figure out why something happens and what to do about it...
                      it´s my point of view
                      It´s a spiritual thing!

see it as you would, I see it as he got something that he totally didn't expect and ended up with. Could've been a car, could've been job, could've been anything. The fact that so many arbitrary and unexpected things "just happened" and lead him to where he never thought he'd end up, in my opinion is "things happening for a reason"
