a lesson to everyone about backing up data

so a couple of days ago my comp would not start up...naturally i take it in to the local comp repair place. today they called me back to inform me that the secondary hard drive had failed; this means i lost all the music i have with the exception of any cds i've burned. about 65 gigs of stuff (not alot to some, but i delete what i dont listen to), including master copies of all the sets and cds i've recorded as a dj. when they replace the drive (the POS was only 8 months old!) i'm gonna get an external drive to back everything up onto. not making this mistake again.

i periodically check everything in (about once a week) & burn it to a data disc prior to it going into my open folder.. unless if it is a really hyped set. i got burned by loosing a ton of music the same way.

I know how that feels. I lost about 45 GB 2 years ago. It's a horrible feeling.

if you still have your drive, run getdataback on it.... you can find it at www.download.com

be sure to get the right program though, there's one for NTFS and another for FAT32.

I retreived 220 gb from 2 hd's back with this program.... LIFESAVER

i lost about 50GB a couple years ago. been burning to cdr ever since.
now have 1000+ cdr's of data (music)

it sux having to buy cdr's once a month or more, but it sux even more to lose all that music.

reading people's stories about losing data made me buy a dual layer dvd burner for my pc.

i just went throught the same thing... so my brother downloads a shit load of porn of the net, my comp ends up like having 15 viruses.,
so i told my mom LET ME COPY ALL MY SETS BEFORE YOU TAKE THE COMPUTER, i was at school, she did it herself,
                        and guess what..
she didn't do it right.. :? whatever, i only had like a years worth of freakin digweed sets plus guest mixes, plus the ms extras, plus some nasty techno sets..
baaahh, i have most of em on cd, but by now some are scratched beyond recognition, gave some away...
                        whatever ill start anew..
                        this weeks digger set rawked
