another week ... another show ... another batch of fantastic tracks from high end producers.
I was asked recently if I like every recent T show or was just pretending lol .... FFS - for proof of just HOW good Transitions has been simply check out this weeks instalment. In essence, the quality and consistency of these shows is being maintained week in week out.
Seriously if you haven't been checking the [ms] hosted show religiously each Sunday then you're missing out. There is a lot of great music out there whether it's the high profile tracks or ones that only ever cross our radar because we get them via JD's show.
Things get of underway with a further sneak preview of Guy J's seriously twisted "Ballroom" (yet to be released on Bedrock) this fantastic remix has a spaced vibe compared to the lethal original. I think Ballroom is going to be big.
The trippiness continues with "Spindizzy" before we hit Tone Depth's fantastic update of his Bedrock classic "Rumblefish" (which was given the Maher Daniel treatment for Bedrock 11). This track has a timeless hook that gives me goose bumps every time I hear it live. A set of 6 mixes Rumblefish remixes are available through Bedrock Digital @ Beatport, including the original that features in John's 2001 Space Lab Yellow set
Things get even better with a remix of WOW's sublime Future Perfect courtesy of this weeks guest and remixer supreme Henry Saiz. This track is a real tour de force and destroying dancefloors worldwide (or at least it did in exotic Newcastle @ Bedrock-Shindig last week).
After the break it's a remix by another of the current Bedrock stable - Barcelona's Marc Marzenit (owner of Paradigma Musik), whose tracks for 11 ("Not Assigned", "Expiritualized" & "Unexpiritualized") received fantastic feedback and praise/plays as well as featuring prominently in Beatports charts. Marc's take on "Neo" certainly doesn't disappoint.
After Lützenkirchen's "Slipknot" the main reason why you should check out this weeks show hops over the horizon.
Folks, we have seen a lot of record labels disappear and fade out of our views, as musical tastes have changed ... so it's nice to have a resurrection of sorts and a pheonix appear from the flames in the form of legendary progressive trance label Platipus who's tracks were played by just about everyone (we're going back to a time when Paul Oakenfold was at the top of his game circ. 1998/9 ... think "Anomaly Calling Your Name" by Libra presents Taylor, "Albion" by Air and Art Of Trance's "Madagascar" to name just three).
Union Jack are Simon Paul Berry (aka Art Of Trance) & Paul Brogden (aka POB) who were associated with Platipus from the start as well as both branching out (POB features on GU013 ibiza and GU014 Hong Kong for starters !).
Not one for overstatement Diggers describes Union Jack's productions as "awesome" ... so you know they'll be good ... but, oh dearly me, these two tracks are IMHO massive (and sounding great live @ Bedrock last week .. although the sound system didn't do them complete justice).
Think deep pounding bass & the type of layered robust driving productions that have been sorely missed for a number of years. Epicly Breeder-esque ... nuff said.
After the shock and awe of part 1 there's even a stellar guest mix. Madrid's Henry Saiz is one of the fastest rising artists in the scene, with his productions and live sets receiving great feedback. 2007 was a breakthrough year for this young star, taking his live show around Europe whilst his original productions on esteemed Spanish labels Natura Sonoris, Paradigma Musik & Software, were picked up by no less than John Digweed for his compilation: Transitions Vol.4. leading JD to picked Henry Saiz to remix his track ‘Gridlock’. 2009 has seen Henry release his "Madre Noche" EP on Renaissance, as well as adding his remixing alchemy to the likes of Radiohead, Way Out West and Guy J, with Saiz's peerless remix of Lamur perhaps THE track of 2009 !
