BBC Radio 1 Mix shows will be MP3 Downloads..?????

There was a rumor that BBC radio shows will soon be availible for DL in MP3 format.
(I think they are going to need a huge server)
If this is true I say,it,s a very good idea.
I Hate P2P,s WINmx Soulseek & the rest of them.
Spending up 2hrs to get a 4min song
And with a Essential Mix I have waited days for it to DL and sometimes they have fake files.
Like one time it was suppose to be Dirty Vegas.
And it was some guy singing vegas tunes.
    LoL...
I even paid 5 bucks for a Oakey EM on the street.
    That was a poor copy.

If it is true,it,s will help fans of the shows like EM,Annie one and other shows. No longer do we got to take the abuse trying to find the sets....
Please GOD make this be real.

I believe this was one of the rumours...

There was a 'whisper' around these parts recently that the beeb were quietly looking into the possibility of making selected BBC radio shows available to download in MP3 format.
Wish it would happen but I have my doubts. :?

This would be great, but surely it would have massive track licencing issues wouldn't it? I mean, sure we can record the essential mix now, but actually making it available for download would be a different matter I would have thought?

I cannot see that they can do this. Every person in the UK needs to pay $200 a year for owning a TV.

I would be very dissapointed to see my $200 a year being used to provide mp3 for the web. It's bad enough seeing them throw money away on crappy shows for minority interest groups.

And don't even get me started on BBC America, i just hope it is pay per view else i really will be mad.

to be fair, the Beeb is the world's number one news and media service.

I can't see this happening though,if you read the FAQ about their radio player you get things like:

Unfortunately, our current rights agreements mean we are only able to offer our on-demand programmes as streams, not as downloads
                        and
Why can I only fast forward in 5 or 15 minute chunks when listening to music shows?
Unfortunately our rights agreements with the record companies mean that we cannot break music programmes up into smaller chunks, or offer a rewind facility.
                        and
Why are the shows only available for seven days?
There are various copyright issues relating to this service which mean we are only permitted to offer these shows for a period of 7 days. Some speech-based programmes may be available for longer.
So unless they're about to pay a HUGE amount more in lisencing fees, then this aint gonna happen!

Ian I am proud of the BBC, number one indeed and i dont mind paying for it.

I do question some of there programing though, British Broadcasting Company, not any other countrys, and not a fooking hollywood studio either.

True - they should remain accountable for the way they spend our money!

Isn't BBC America part of BBC Worldwide though; a commercially-run subsidiary which may capitalise on licence-payers' money but doesn't actually spend it...

In which case, given that the website is used globally, couldn't they pay the licencing fees from the commercial parts of the BBC?

                              Ask me a question...
