Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa

Just had a chuckle reading back through this thread at the posts after England lost. Always have to smile at the bitter jocks, sat at home making funny pictures about the World Cup they didn't qualify for. Bless em.

^^^ agreed on most of that.. disciplined and their chemistry is amazing to watch

one thing I noticed was on the counter Germany would have 5 or 6 players back to defend, when Germany was countering England, there were maybe 2 defending and a few more would come late struggling to get back down the pitch

Bob, what do you think about Capello staying on?

Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa

I think he made mistakes but i don't think the whole thing can be parked at his door either. The players were fucking awful let's not forget.

Since he's had the job i think he's done well (maybe as well as anyone could have) - it annoys me that he said the days of picking out of form players, injured players and celebrities was over (to much cheer from those tired of the eriksson/mclaren/beckham love-in etc etc) and then he goes and takes
Barry, King, Rooney, Ashley Cole (not one of those fully fit though cole did well imo)
Joe Cole, Heskey (not playing for their club so hardly in form)
Beckham (if not a celebrity then what the fuck is he?)

Trouble is, if you take away the players mentioned it's all a bit thin on the ground so what do you do? Do you leave Rooney at home and take a 20 yr old player from the championship? It could work ut if it doesn't Mr Capello would be strung up in the street as we both know Steve, the press here being the worst enemy of the national side.

Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa

I'm glad to just see the decision made early going into Euro 2012 qualifying, and I'm he is staying tbh, i think his biggest mistake was playing the 4-4-2.. as far as players, he really had no choice to take chances, on injured players.. we are not deep by any means and lennon and milner have a lot of maturing to do.. as far as rooney, he was obviously playing not 100%
my main concern right now is our number 1, now James is as old as he is we have to move on.. after greens fuck up, where do you go

yes the media is the national teams worst enemy, but so is filling up the side with all the biggest stars all the time and compromising any chance of chemistry.. I think Capello is smart enough to know where he messed up and expect a bit different results in 2012.. I hope.. would be great to meet Germany there and get a rematch, hopefully with a ref with decent vision too, lol

For sure. Argentina and Brazil may have taken the best players to the world cup but it's looking like Germany and Holland have taken the best teams.

As for the keeper, Joe Hart was in the best form of the 3 picked but it'd be a brave man who made him number 1.

                  views on germany-spain ?

Spain averages 67% ball possesion, a lot of moving the ball around with very low productivity. Ze Germans killed Argentina and England with fastbrakes, spanish defense will have to be very careful not make the slightest mistakes. Up front Torres seems out of touch, much more movility with Villa on top and Pedro/Mata/Silva open on the left. Def. the spaniards have more to be worried about.
                  Who will sub Muller ?

I don't know, I mean with the way this world cup has been going I wouldn't bet on anything, but then I would say they had a bit of an easier path to the semis and don't really have the quality to beat any of the remaining teams.. but having said that, if they get past holland and then get their second goalie back for the final ( ) anything is possible

We'll see this Evening who will make it 1st in the Finals. I have lost so many bets during the tournament that I have decided to keep my mouth shut lol. I am always for the Underdog (as long as it's not against us) so I will cheer for Uruguay. But I would love to see Germany vs. Netherlands as the Final Game. England - Argentina - Spain - Netherlands. THAT is a rough league of big players to beat.
