ok, big debate now for technology to be use as ref assistance. I'm against it. maybe if they add a ref. behind each goal, if they see something raise a flag

human error, even if by the referees, is a big part of this sport, introducing technology to review plays will kill the sport, imo

congrats to Germany.. all this talk about how young they are needs to stop though, they all (mostly) play on top european clubs, don't make it out like they've never played in high pressure matches

I'm not at all saying the outcome would have been different had that goal been ruled correctly, but fucks sake FIFA needs to have a look at what's going on here

                            1. France gets in to the tournament through a blatant hand ball, which had it been caught would not only have disallowed the goal, but would have at least been a yellow card

                            2. USA gets screwed out of two goals for no reason whatsoever other than bad officiating, or, "human error"

                            3. England loses a goal that was easy 3 feet behind the line, with the linesman looking directly at the goal

                            4. Tevez scores a goal when he is at least 2 yards offside

                            5. Chile gets a man sent off when contact with Torres (if there was any at all) was clearly incidental

I don't know if it needs to be video replay, another official, or utilise the fourth official for something else beside holding up a fucking sign with numbers on it

Again, Germany were obviously the better team, but you have to wonder how different the match could have been if it got to 2-2

it would have been 4-2 instead of 4-1 ??????

Despite all those very valid points, i'm still not keen to have video replay introduced. I think its a slippery slope to stopping the flow of the game. Someone, somewhere, suggested having an extra linesman for goal line duty only in major tournaments - i personally would prefer that option.

It was pretty outrageous that the goal was missed, it wasn't even close (like the US goal), or at high speed (like the French handball).

Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa

I'm just saying, the complexion of the game changes.. after that goal we immediately came back down and hit the cross bar.. we wouldn't have been pressing to come back from 2 or 3 goals down, and the counter MAY NOT have been as effective.. not making excuses, Germany exploited the lack of shape and made us pay dearly, as I would expect them to

I'm not a fan of out and out replay either, which is why I suggested utilising the extra official

or, they already have camera in the nets.. why not use them
