    stranger in my yard

so my dogs are barking out of control , then i hear a gate being slammed. i run out to my back yard and i see this dude there. i asked him that who the fuck he was, he said he was from the power company. i asked him if they were supposed to knock or they just go in peoples yards like that...he said that they are the only ones allowed by law to do this
personally i think is bullshit, nobody should be allowed on another persons property without the person knowing.... did i agree to this somewere?

Trespassing is exactly that. The property belongs to you. If they can't gain acces to their meter, they usually leave a note to schedule an appointment.

How it's done here, YMMV - of course the two huge dogs back there help enforce our no-tolerance policy

I'd just nod, then let a big fart rip upwind of him - that's also not against the law or considered trespassing.

Like I said, YMMV. Here I don't have a problem with them gaining access into our back yard.

Both our gas meter and power meter are back there. I always see the power and gas guys walking the streets with binoculars trying to read meters.

i think as a courtesy they should ask if they can go in and read it ..

actually in most states it is illegal to leave your dog out if they let you know they will be stopping by. no jail time, but a fine. unless of cousre they get mauled.

It's called an 'ingress and egress easement' and in the contract to your house you'll find it explained. If you live on a piece of land that is subdivided with a recorded plat you'll find it stated in there as well. It really helps being a land surveyor because now I know what I can get away with when I'm up to my voyeurism of the lady next door!
A good shower head and my right hand - the two best lovers that I ever had.

...which explains why you pay taxes on it every year. You may own the house, but the US still "owns" the land (whether all parties admit it or not)

apparently cadresolutions.net didn't like sharing it with [ms]

It's all good though--I like the one they replaced it with, too
